More power or better quality power? Watt quality makes a huge difference!!! Your speakers are 85db efficient, so you need some decent power to get them moving. Low power tube integrated won't do the trick. No mattter the power, however, you won't get the spl you have in your car wit...
Speaker Cable Suggestion Kimber 4TC would be something to consider. Watch for a used pair on Audiogon. You want the teflon coated wire. It's much better then the 4PR. DH labs T14 is also good. It has silver plated copper, so highs are going to brighten up. You may or may ...
What cables should I buy.? With those speakers I would probably stay away from silver. Go with all copper like Kimber 4TC speaker wire. There are a number of budget choices in interconnects (Kimber, DH labs, Signal Cable, VH audio). Power cables should be last on your list....
Long speaker cable length with Bi-wire Maybe detrimental to your pocket book. A single run of DH Labs T-14 or Kimber 4TC would be a good place to start. What are you running on your front channels?
Best power conditioner? How much they help will depend onthe quality of the power you have. Sometimes lower end gear can benifit a lot because they have lower quality power supplies. Try one out on CD, DAC & pre-amp. Amps usually work best plugged direct in the wall....
New to Audiogon and have a question +1 on Parts Connexion. The site can be a bit hard to navigate. Look for the tabs along the bottom of the pages. Parts Express might have what you need as well. If you can't do the work yourself, a local shop might be your best bet.Be careful, you ...
Good tube pre amp for a mostly digital system connections are:CD Transport -> DAC -> Pre-amp -> Amp -> SpeakersTube pre-amp is a great place to start. The 501's have 4K ohm input impedence. Try and find a pre-amp with 400 ohm output impedence or less on the balanced outputs. This ...
kimber 4tc shotgun, or kimber 8tc single? 4TC = 13awg x 2 wire shotgun = 2.63mm2 x 2 = 5.26mm2 cross sectional area. 8TC = 9 awg = 6.63mm2 cross sectional area. The 8TC is higher gauge and more tidy.
Are projector screens transparent to sound? You might check Videogon or ebay. Do not buy a GrayHawk or a FireHawk. These were made for early LCD or DLP projectors with bad black levels. You want plain white 1.0 or 1.3 gain. the latter will give a slightly brighter picture without hot spotting.
Atmasphere Novacron MA1.5 amp with Merlin VSMSE Gorgeous amps. Best if you have space in between your speakers for amps to be displayed. If you can get these near 3k or less it would be a no-brainer. Check Atma-sphere web site for more info. I think they have a owners group discussion board.
experience/opinions re: Eminent Tech LFT-16? In the sweet spot they are great for the $. They are very directional however and power hungry at 85db sensitivity.
Are projector screens transparent to sound? Agree with CMK. Get a Stewart 1.3 gain with the wide Delux frame and Velux coating. The extra wide frame looks much more finished than square tube frames. Overspray hits the frame and is absorbed by the special Velux material. After your eyes adju...
Are projector screens transparent to sound? Perf screens are not better than solid screens. They emmulate what is used in real movie theaters on a smaller scale. At the viewing distance in a real movie theater the human eye cannot see the holes in the screen. It is essentially a giant speak...
Using two subs This subject is highly debated. Check forums. Both configurations can work well. Set-up is key either way. What works well in one room may not work well in another. If you have two subs then start experimenting. Try one sub to start. between speak...
Are projector screens transparent to sound? Screen material is made of thick vinyl. It won't be very transparent acoustically. I don't think there will be much to gain by placing panels behind it. Usind standard screen brackets I would guess there might be 1" max between the wall and the sc... |
