I need help choosing a power conditioner. At that price break, I would forego any power conditioner as it may offer little or no benefit and may actually worsen the sonics. If you bought a $300 lc for $150, then that could be better. And by all means try to borrow a high quality line condi...
Power Cable or Power Conditioner? 9rw, Nrchy already pointed out that cheap power conditioners will sound bad and he is right. You then use his qualified statement as proof for your unqualified statement that 'Most' power conditioners mess up the sound. Sorry, but you are simply w...
Power Cable or Power Conditioner? You might consider getting rid of your power cords altogether and purchase in-line power conditioners for each component.A good or better power conditioner will almost always will provide better soundstaging, sibilants, and lowered noise-floor ove...
is there really a need for two subs? I pretty much agree with Sdcampbell. But if I were on a budget (for which I am) I would take one good musical sub over two mediocre subs everytime. The quality of the sub means everything. And this is one region where it's better to do without than ...
How best to spend 2500 CD player for my system? Sony SCD-1 or e777es models both offer topflight performance for the under $5k range. You should be able to find them used for about $1.5k to $3k. Excellent with redbook and even slightly better with SACD.

Where is my weakest link? The sony dvp s9000es also has progressive scan. Check out some of the other threads by doing a search on the s9000es. It's an excellent unit. Here's one: http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?ddgtl&1024432550&openflup&28&4#28
Where is my weakest link? Sell the rotel and pick up a used Sony DVP s9000es DVD/SACD/CD player for about $600. It's an excellent unit and you'll find numerous threads here on audiogon confirming that.
Best amp for 5k used? SS or Tube Lordgorian, Some of your comments do not appear to be as bright as you might be. Besides your tremendous lack of logic applied above, I really like the comment you make elsewhere where you claim to own the "best college system in the country."
Best amp for 5k used? SS or Tube Pick up a used McCormack DNA-2 (not the deluxe nor the LAE version) for about $2300. Send it to McCormack Audio for the Rev A upgrade (about $2500).I own the DNA-2 LAE (Limited Anniversary Edition) version. Peter Moncrief of Intern'l Audio Review ...
