Anyone installed P2 upgrade in orig. Planar 2? Apart from the oak surround isn't the plinth the same as on the later Planar 2's? Anyway I would do a search of the Vinyl Asylum archives using the search engine,as there is plenty of info on the Rega motor upgrade. Here is a link http://www.audioa...
wow and flutter A new belt is always a good idea, after about 3 years. The Heed power supply mentioned in the prevous post was especially developed for the Rega.A stable power source will always yield an improvement,so try that or some form of conditioning before g...
wow and flutter In relation to the last 2 posts there are two fixes for a Rega Planar 3 that is not running at speed.Firstly check your running speed either with a strobe or stopwatch. You can get a downloadable strobe from the Vinyl Engine library. It will usually...
Damping fluid/grease for Mayware Unipivot? I think you should read this as I mentioned it's called "Audible effects of Mechanical resonances in turntables" by Poal Ladegaard it will give you a better understanding of well....turntable resonances. Here is the link http://www.vinylengine.com/...
wow and flutter If you want a more correct answer it is this.Cartridge/tonearm resonance is at the core of this issue. The Rega tonearm has an effective mass of 11gms.To this you are trying to match a cartridge that has a resonance of around 11/12Hz with the Rega ...
Damping fluid/grease for Mayware Unipivot? It should be emphasised that manufacturer's specs are only a guide and can't predict the effects of a cartridge/tonearm combo in the real world.Listen to Jean. The cartridge/tonearm resonance itself is at the core of this issue.A paper by Paol Lade...
wow and flutter There is lots about the Rega Planar and speed stabilty on this forum.Do a search of the archives and you find various approaches to the problem.
stylus force If you are prepared to tune by ear you could very well end up less than say the recommended 1.5gms.The manufacturer's spec is really a guide only but I don't think you would end up as low as 1gm.However go to Loyd Walker's site and look at the FAQ...
tracking distortion on a p5 + rega cartridge? Yes I thought it was some kind of alignment problem,it's good to hear you got it identified.Rega are usally very good about replacement so you should be up and running in no time.
Rega -Deep Groove Replacement Subplatter This is the oil that Rega recommends: Comma Hypoid EP80, Castrol EPX80w/90 or Shell Spirax EP90,Do not use more than two drops. To be fair Rega also state that other types of oil than Hypoid gear oil are affected by temperature changes and insist o...
Rega -Deep Groove Replacement Subplatter I think that there is a design fault with the Rega with that issue of speed stabilty.Rega is well aware of the problem and there is a fix they recommend for it.You must first flush and totally clean the bearing well using white spirits and then ri...
tracking distortion on a p5 + rega cartridge? Sorry to hear about this.Obviously to my mind you have alignment issues happening.Have you checked your azimuth and overhang to see if they are correct? You can check with a level if the Rega arm's face where it meets the cartridge is perfectly flat.
Loose RB 300 Tonearm Stem Thanks very much for that info.I had searched for those screws and had not found them because they are very well camouflaged.Yes that was the problem, they had worked loose and only needed a little tightening. Now I have a rigid tonearm again.Thanks...
Understanding phono stages/What to look for? The OM20 cartridge you are using is not really suitable for the Rega arm.The Dynavector will be a much better match and then you will begin to hear what your turntable can do.The phono stage you have is very good but obviously the more money you p...
Cartridge for P25 under $1k,going up from Dyna10x4 The moving coil cartridge with the lowest compliance might be the best choice for your table with the Rega arm. |
