What item sold you cannot live without?? Had a Marantz 4 channel receiver with a little oscilloscope and 4 JBL L200 studiomasters speakers for a "groovy" very early 70's quad setup.Wish I had the same damn setup just for fun.Kind of like Sugarbrie at present. I regret selling the JBL's a...
GE 6550's I had GE 6550's in my CJ Premier 11a. I thought the Svet 6550 was an improvement. I use the Ei KT 90 now because of a little improvement in the bass. I think the Svet is a great tube for the money.Have Fun
Would Audiogoners be interested in this? Go Ben Go!

Sweet Spot? From my experience, Yes.I think the ribbons will extend the range a bit more. My Ininity 4.5's and my friend's Maggie 3.5's put out a wonderful sense of height and depth that more than one person can experience without being on the other's lap.My ...
Are vintage speakers really that good? I might as well chime in to piss and moan over selling my JBL L200 studiomasters years ago. I at one point had the 4311's and really enjoyed them. I then went totally whole hog into the "quad" revolution and bought 4 JBL L200's. Wish to God I had ...
What Cart. for a Infinity Black widow I owned the black widow years ago. A wonderful match is the ortofon SM or MC 30 or some such designation. a low mass cartridge tailor made for an arm like the black window. Wonderful combination.Have fun.
Anyone still do insightful or intelligent lyrics? Almost anything by Greg Brown. A great singer songwriter. Go to Redhouse Records website (www.redhouserecords.com) and you can listen to some of his tunes. I recommend slant six mind and covenant but actually love anything he does.I also like Trag...
Hours sitting around just listening to music? I read reviews and posts for the same reason I read anything, Interest. I post to share some experiences and advice that often cost me significant dollars to gain. But I am never on a computer on Friday and Saturday evenings. I have a dedicated lis...
Klyne pre-amps, any experience out there? I have only listened to a Klyne once in a nice setup with Neverostatic tube amps driving Avalon Eioldon's. A beautiful sounding system. I was impressed with my one time experience with the pre and I am very biased towards tubes.
Speaker Upgrade? Listen to planars/stats if you get a chance. Eminent Technology, Maggies, and Logans. In the right room and you having a sweet upstream they might just float your boat.Happy Listening
Tube Equipment: Gimmick? Listen for yourself, then you decide.I did and ended up with CJ.My friend borrowed it to hook up with his Maggies and he ended up with Cary.My electrical engineer friend has classic MOSCODE and a couple of SET's.Go listen, compare, and come back a...
is it me or sacd. I didn't take notes, didn't compare to vinyl, but love the Dylan SACD of Bringing it all back home.
How many stereo lovers have you created? Lots and lots. I have sold so many JBL's that I should have been given a commission by the company.Of course, one could say by impressing folks on the JBL sound that I ruined people on "good" stereo equipment.Let the buyer beware!!!!
What type of turntable should I use? Your Sapphire should continue to serve you well in your setup. Read what reviewers still think of SOTA in the Jul 03 and current Absolute Sound issue. I have just swapped a Sony 333 SACD for a Sapphire/FR setup and I am psyched. I remember how bea... |
