How often do you demagnitize your MC cartridge? It should only be done immediately after returning from alien abduction.

Odyssey Stratus or Parasound Halo A23? I agree with you. I have 2 sets of M200's and a 202plus and my son just bought a used M200. Their sound for the bargain price is unmatched. Pairing them with a tubed preamp AI and they really sing. Sadly, I just checked and saw none for sale on Au...
Why is 2 Channel better than multi-channel? Most of us only have 2 ears.
Odyssey Stratus or Parasound Halo A23? I apologize. I'm sure the 2000 is a distinct improvement. But I don't think it has the overwhelming power to easily drive those speakers without any strain at all. For example, the Denon can't drop below a speaker load of 4 ohms and would prefer 8...
Odyssey Stratus or Parasound Halo A23? Oh my gosh. The Denon is to the B&K monoblocks like a Cavalier to a Corvette. I use a Denon AVR 4800 for movies its good but it doesn't make music it just makes sounds. To make music you need the magical sweetness and unknown harmonics of a tu...
Odyssey Stratus or Parasound Halo A23? No not new. Used from Ebay or Audiogon. About $600 maybe $700 for both. The older B&K units even sound better-look for blue stripes on front. They must be shipped carefully in seperate boxes about 50 pounds each. They are still fully supported...
Odyssey Stratus or Parasound Halo A23? The B&K Monoblock M200's are 150 amps peak to peak. You can weld with them. I run 4 pairs of speakers at once for my front channels. They can carry any load. I believe the best bargain out there.
How do you get past the pops and hiss of LPs? Vinyl that is both clean and with undamaged tracks are quiet.
Using Denon 3803 as pre/pro a good idea? I use a Denon AVR with B&K monoblocks M200 for the fronts pre out. No problem at all. The Denon just has that much more power for the ohter channels. For stereo I use a tube pre to the B&K switching it out from the Denon.
Used tube pre-amp around $1,000 AI sound is just specatular for the used price of a Mod3. I've never heard it equaled for as little as $500 used. It's holographic and also has that sweet tube sound. Phono beats multichannel digital sound, e.g. SACD. But there are some issues-it ...
Better than Norah Jones...? How very lucky you must be to hear Eva Cassidy for the very first time. Songbird, Live at Blues Alley, Imagine
Used tube pre-amp around $1,000 AI Mod3, no need for 3A and those hideous stepped attenuators. Get 6H23 tubes from Upscale Audio for about $100. The tubes will last forever and so will that sweet sound.
Buying LPs - where do you shop Strictly thrift stores, Goodwill especially where I am. I like classical and the selection is great.
Bat vk3i or audible illusions 3a Go for the AI Mod 3, not new 3A, no stepped attenuators and for maybe $650 used. A great bargain. Just be prepared to spring for some better tubes. |
