Sound Anchor Blue Dots or BluTack?? In my experience, Blue-Tack definitely affected the sonics and dynamics. Blue-tack was one of the worst I tried to my ear.
Question about Morrow ICs? I should also have noted that the MA-3's had bass that was more powerful and defined than any interconnect that I've had in my system. The MA-2's are not that way, excelling in other areas.
Question about Morrow ICs? In my system I found happiness with the MA-2 IC's with Eichman bullets. The system I used them in can be a bit forward in the midrange, and the MA-3's and 4's accentuated that too much. I found the MA-2's to be more delicate sounding, quiet and re...
New Budget CD Player Hello Opteron05. I went from a Rotel 855 to a Marantz DV-6001. I love it. The old Rotel is one fine sounding budget player that served me for a very long time, but the Marantz is more accurate sounding and still quite musical.
Standmount speakers - alternatives to spikes? I use Vibrapods with terrific success. Decoupling is best in my view if you like to preserve all the energy of the music.
Oyaide, Hubble, FIM etc, any consensus on flavors? To be honest, I tired a bit of the effort and went finally with the outlets that "did no harm" to how I wanted my system to sound. The best outlets dynamically (and I mean microdynamically as much as anything) were the original Eagles. Their clari...
Speaker Bass I use Isoblocks (laminated cork and rubber) which do a decent job of decoupling without sucking much life out of the sound. The bass is pretty tight, but has a certain warmth to it that I enjoy.
Oyaide, Hubble, FIM etc, any consensus on flavors? Blindjim,A couple years back I went through several 15 amp outlets and was facinated on the impact they had on my CD Player, and to a lesser degree on my solid state integrated amp.I ended up with a dedicated line and my favorite outlets, which we...
really bright sounding speaker cables Mapleshade cables are bright and very transparent. Like someone opened a window in front of you.
Skylan stand tweeks I don't have Skylan stands, but my favorite fill was a 50:50 mix of dry sand and small steel blasting shot. Very lively sounding, but without the coloration or overdamping that I heard from other materials.
Cowboy Junkies Thanks for all the advice. I do like the musical style of "Open". I also think its a very well recorded album. The sustain of the cymbals is quite something.I'll do some exploring with the information.
Lost - Your combined experience required Wow Bob_reynolds. You sound so definite, but the poster should not ignore the other advice here. Cable changes in my system (5 1/4" woofers!) cured me of wanting a sub. With some cable combinations, I didn't want to listen to music. With other com...
Lost - Your combined experience required I wouldn't dismiss a speaker cable change so quickly. If you want more airy, open and extended I would definitely suggest Mapleshade's offerings. They will also increase dynamics. You will notice the diference immediately. The other thing I recomme...
Soliloquy 5.3 drivers They come up periodically on ebay. You could also buy a pair of 5.0's or Sat-5's pretty cheaply which use the same drivers.
Upgrading wall outlets I've had very good results using Oyaide SWO-GX and Furutech gold plated. I did not have a good experience with some other aftermarket outlets and eventually took those out of the system. My experimentation was done mostly with my CDP. |
