Thinking of Downsizing
I’ve ordered an Amp to pair with my new LS 50 Metas, it is an Arcam SA20 and I was able to get it for $1,300. I’m all in for 3K, which was a little above my budget, but hope that everything pairs well and the loss of sound isn’t too critical. Than...
Thinking of Downsizing
At the time, almost 7 years ago, we had purchased a new Home of 4,000 sq ft. With a man cave. It was a trade off, I got to buy whatever stereo I wanted and she could buy new furnishings for the Home. We downsized into 1,600 sq. ft almost 2 years a...

Thinking of Downsizing
Well after listening to a few speakers, I’ve purchased my replacements for my 805 D3’s. I ordered a pair of KEF LS50’s. A little above my budget, but I enjoyed the sound and the Wife should be happy with their appearance. I may keep my Rel sub or ...
Thinking of Downsizing
Just to clarify, I’m thinking of about $2500 for the receiver and speakers. The small footprint is because of the Wife factor. I’ve found myself listening only once or twice a month and have noticed some hearing loss as I age. Thanks to everyone f...
Which pair of speakers changed your Hifi life?
When I was 18, I took all my money that I made selling weed and bought a pair of ESS Amt 1B’s. The world opened up for me.
Question for those that bolt their speakers to stands
I have a pair of 805 D3’s with the original stands. I’ve used blu tack in in half dozen places per speaker and it’s worked well for me.
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
Everyone has the right to their own opinion, however I am happy with my McIntosh MA6700. It holds its resale value. ‘It’s built like a tank It pairs well with my B&W 805 D3’s It looks good in my system I understand there are better values...

Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
roxy54I was replying to a question about whether I need a sub with my B&W speakers. This was referenced to my earlier post in this thread about my pairing with my McIntosh amp.
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
Campaigner8,When I purchased my system, my Home was 4,000 sq ft and my listening room was open to the back, so yes I felt I needed the rel sub. I recently moved to a 1,600 sq ft Home with a smaller listening room and as of yet have not hooked up t...
Why the hate for mcintosh amps?
I’ve enjoyed my system. Purchased a McIntosh Mac6700 and paired it with B&W 805 D3’s about 5 years ago, added a Rel S/5 SHO sub and never looked back. As a bonus, my Wife thinks the equipment is more attractive then my previous stuff.

New TT, Arm and MC Cartridge

Average Price Spent for Speakers
At the time I bought my current Home ( which I sold 2 weeks ago) I made a deal with my Wife, she could get new furniture for the Home (which is 4,000 sq ft), if I could spend an equal amount on my dream system for my new Man Cave. Hope to keep her...
