Questions about Speltz zeros and MA-2 amps Thanks for the responses. I will try it with just the amps.
Coincident PR Pure Reference My last 2 speakers in my choice for a replacement for Kharma 3.2 FEs was down to Coincidents and SP Tech Revelations - I chose the latter just based on reviews, and will let you know how they sound when they arrive. I spoke to trusted reviewers wh...
Best Power amps in $7000 range Third the Moscode 401 HR. Great amp with ss power and tube warmth, timbre. Well built, reliable and you have $2K left over.
Spectron Musician III SE Mk.2? What Changed? Audiofeils' comment is probably the most succinct and accurate and I would have to count myself amongst the thin-skinned over-reactionaries. Fair and balanced summary, Bill. If you do hear the Spectron and are impressed - i.e. if it sounds vastly ...
Spectron Musician III SE Mk.2? What Changed? Excellent post, Randyhat. I sure hope Spectron's musical aim hits the target better than his (their) public relations endeavors. I'm not sure why defensive, terse, petulant could not be replaced by humor, lightness, maybe even a little mea culpa? ...
Balanced preamps with Atma-sphere MA-2's Pubul57, Ralph is dead right. (as usual) I replaced my expensive (very) PAD Dominus i/c with cheap (very) Mogami Neglex i/cs - long runs - and I cant hear a difference! MP-1 & MA -2.
Spectron Musician III SE Mk.2? What Changed? I must hand it to Spectron. The response to the original question wins the prize for (1) most original, (2) Most off-hand, (3) Most glib, (4) Most non-informative, (5) Most funny, (6) Most damning of sensibilities and IQ of any potential buyer and...
Mogami balanced cables .... or another brand? I switched PAD Dominus Rev C cable (at quite a few $ K) to Mogami 2534 between my MP-1 and MA-2, saved more than $3K and have indistinguishable sound. I repeat and stand by that statement!
Efficient floorstndrs. to reach above furniture In case I am misunderstood, I elevated other speakers - not Coincidents.
Efficient floorstndrs. to reach above furniture Agree 100% with Coincident Total Eclipse. $4K on Audiogon. And you won't have to upgrade amp - very efficient and tall. If you have to, you can stand them on 6" Timbernation maple blocks - I did this.
Is there a modern equivalent of Allison speakers? I was talking about the Guru dealer, but go to Allisonacoustics.com/our-dealers.html and you will find the dealers. I got my Fours from Burt's in Kingston and it was the last one. Good luck! Jaybo, I agree that they are really great speakers - but...
Is there a modern equivalent of Allison speakers? After posting, I read the Guru reviews and see there's a dealer in New York - will have to go and listen to them, since they have created such a buzz. May have to forego visuals if they're that good. Any others?
Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in Atmasphere is indeed unique - no hyperbole here - in that he maintains an amateur's enthusiasm and a professional's objectivity without a shred of self service. What a boon to the Audio community he is! Thanks, Ralph!
Owners of speakers by obscure companies chime in SP Tech must be listed, judging from the response of every new (unfortunately, too few) owner, both here and on AudioCircle. Maybe Bob Smith can respond; like many dicsreet, modest new designers, he keeps a low profile, but having heard his design...
Preamp help needed - max $ 2500 I would add the Aesthetix Calypso. Has all the qualities you seek, plus balanced/RCA inputs, outputs and 2 sets of outputs. |
