Anyone have experience with Soundsmith’s strain gauge?
I love my blue LED...really. For me, it's just another touch of unorthodox to go w my LT air arm, direct rim drive tt and 93 kg Stacore pneumatic/mass loading support.

Mijostyn, you mean MF's infamous retraction of comments re Whest v Boulder phonostages? I'm glad you've confirmed that, I was told I had that story wrong. Yep, I never paid any attention to his words after that low point.

Racedoc, audio certainly polarises. I've seen comments that the DS is digital-like, the same way you feel about SG. Horses for courses.Install is everything in analog, SG maybe more than most. It is v sensitive to azimuth...get setup wrong/sub par...

Not SG, I believe. Never did. Unless I'm  v much mistaken.

And don't forget the reduced costs of l/t ownership. So, buy a Top Wing Red Sparrow cart for $15k.Retips every 2-3 yrs c. $10-12kSG? $9k minus trade in for phono (that can be spent on LPS).Retips c $1k each. The numbers don't lie Lol.

Hey my friend, no ire directed at you. I'm a pretty fussy listener, and I went into the demo aware of these comments. I honestly walked out w no hint of perceiving issues here. All my other carts had varying levels of colourations and characters, ...

This "not recognising vocals" criticism...I'm not getting it. Firstly, who knows what Frank Sinatra or Kate Bush or Peter Gabriel etc TRULY sound like? And I don't mean amplified mike on stage. I mean him/her singing for you.I've run six top carts...

Hi, I'm a long term user since 2014, in that time going from SDS-5 stylus to the -6, and two upgrades to PSU to energiser (first, Red Wine Audio Black Lightning battery pack, and now bespoke LPS).I've previously run Roksan Shiraz, Lyra Skala and P...
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
About £600/set of 4. Not sure how accurate that is, email Arthur at Arya Audio.Designed as a universal footer, so components and spkrs. The contrast to Gaias was one of the more fascinating ones in my time in the hobby. In isolation, the Gaias seeme...
IsoAcoustics GAIA footers: impressions
I initially liked the Gaias under my Zu Zu Definitions 4 spkrs. But switching to Arya Audio Revopods showed them to be a tad colored and one-note in the bass. Gaias went back, Revopods stayed.
MHDT dac...and which streamer/server?
Tubed gear really does seem to fall into euphonically warm or truthful and revealing camps. I've never gotten on w BAT gear, too warm for my tastes  but my Nat triodes are hugely authentic. If the MHDT gear fits closer to authentic than overly glow...
MHDT dac...and which streamer/server?
Hmm Uberwaltz...any Orchid I buy will also go into all all-tubes system as well.
Trans-Fi Terminator Tonearm: 2019 Update
Ooh...the Terminator adapted to work with a damping trough...what an idea!
MHDT dac...and which streamer/server?
It comes with a "medical grade" SMPS it seems. My big decision really is whether relinquishing Roon early on is a mistake...will Roon make my early experience more enjoyable and fruitful. If that is the case, Innuos Zen Mk3 picks itself.
Trans-Fi Terminator Tonearm: 2019 Update
If you look at Vic's website in past, plenty of trad suspended tts have Terminator installed. The only critical issues w the arm are getting it level, care w cable dressing, free flow of air from pump. The tt suspension is not a consideration.
