A full range speaker?
A speaker has to go flat to 30 hertz with large baffles and large drivers in a full size cabinet to be considered full range and if you can find one made prior to 1965 that is 16 ohms you will definitely hear a full range system unlike anything ma...
Best Preamp and Amp combination, interesting finding!!!
You can not get back what is lost further up the chain so therefore the cartridge or the cd player/streamer/dac is the most important followed by the phono preamp/pre amp and then the amplifier but when you find a really good amplifier that will p...
Analog Upgrade - Where to start?
I would start with the ps audio phono stage all the rest of your stuff is top notch all i can say is the phono stage you choose will be very important for the rest of your vinyl front end.
Manufacturers past their heyday
The reason conrad johnson fell off the radar is that they lost their founding members and when that happened they stopped advertising and stuck with their existing products for these reasons no one talks about them anymore it is a shame because th...
I think I screwed up 😬☹️
That is too bad i feel for you mistakes happen i guess that all i can say is to take your next arm to a qualified dealer for the installation process i have never messed with turntable setup at all due to the high cost of everything involved.
Speaker Cables? why all the hype for expensive speaker wire?
You hear what you hear when i first started in the hobby i could not tell the difference due to gear and speakers but as my system got better and i had logged more hours of listening i definitely could hear the difference that better wire made.
Need definitions of: Dark; Warm; and Bright
Dark is when there is a an overly soft treble that causes no life to the very upper treble. Warm is when the entire balance is too bass centered which causes a lack of openness to your entire midrange and treble. Bright is when the sound is center...
When Everything Comes Together
A lot of that has to do with warmup time and the power grid your system will sound better after hours of time playing and usually the drain on the power grid is less at night so after you have listened for awhile the sound will continue to get bet...
What are the current useless terms in this "audio world"
The biggest useless term in audio is newer more advanced technology the best audio gear was made 40 to 70 years ago and all we have done is taken a step or many steps backward since.
Speaker Questions and Recommendations
If you want a major upgrade in sound go for a vintage american speaker made before 1981 and if you can swing it a big one made before 1965 they will provide a major upgrade in sound quality and you will not need subwoofers anymore.
Lack of popularity of Chord???
The problem with chord amplifiers is that they are a form of switching amplifier that sounds bright and aggressive with most speakers but very detailed with the right ones. You can find a much better amplifier for a lot less money elsewhere.
30 year old player, worth an upgrade?
I think you should try to find a good vintage cd player prior to 2000 like an adcom gcd 750 or a wadia or an accuphase they will all sound better in many ways than what you are looking at right now.
Sota or Technics
Both are great but there sound is for different systems for sure if you have a detailed system go for the sota if you have a naturally balanced system go for the technics but they are both very good tables.
New speakers dilemma for vinyls... Heeelp! :)))
Since you are in the eu try a different cartridge in the rega instead of those a dynavector would be a much better choice for a p6. I would also look for a classic spendor or harbeth speaker for your system because they sound great on vinyl.
What speaker has the best tweeter?
The tweeter that sounds the best to your ears is the best tweeter my favorite is the late 40's 16 ohm electrovoice tweeter.
