Best Streamer for External USB Dac
Check out any of the Bryston units.  All three generations are very nice.  I've had a lot of problems with BlueSound and WiFi, so I am looking to sell the stuff off.
Can we finally put Reel to Reel out of its misery? Put it to rest people.
So, is this a bad time for me to reveal my plans to market a vacuum tube based 8 track machine with dubbing from AM radio and optional 12Vdc power supply?
Can speakers be my spirit guides???
Not exactly like you mention, but it is an experience.  :-)
In search of a replacement speaker for Beovox S35. Phillips 80650/w4
Have you tried PartsExpress.com ?  They have a lot of drivers and should be able to find the equivalent match if not the original.   Granted, if you can find an OEM one that would be ideal, but if not, give them a try.   I have had great luck with...
Speaker stands brand?
I don't recognize them but they do look attractive.   However, I prefer stands I can fill with sand or lead shot although these stands do look very good.   That is pretty important if you have to please the one who must be pleased.
Windows in a listening room
It's hard to say without listening.  I can say the very best room I was ever in was a small room but was very, very dead acoustically.  Overall, I would lean to highly damped rooms than live ones.
Is it possible to have vinyl nearly noise free?
@voiceofvinyl & @atmasphere - Nice posts, thanks!   I have a few LPs that are dead quiet and one that is dead quiet except for a small scratch that is as loud as a gunshot.   You know, it only takes one LP to prove you can have quiet LP's, one...
The Orchestral Organ, Jan Kraybill
Awesome!  Do you know if is it available in other formats?
Best Headphone system under $1000???
I really like my old Stax Electrostatic headphones and their amp to drive them.    I'll admit I am biased toward them, but it wouldn't hurt you to start your listening / shopping experience with them and move on from there.   Do check out headphon...
The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
The Defense rests our case........  :-)
Headphone Driver Balance? (Single Driver)
There are several issues with headphone design - they have to be lightweight, they have a tiny area to fill with sound, so those long wavelengths have trouble developing in that tiny space, and most buyers choose headphones based on cost.   In add...
Anyone had the equipment customized ?
That is the often thought philosophy.   It is a small amount of ESR, which dissipates the noise energy as heat, rather than dumping onto the ground plane and causing ground bounce.   Sure, a cap with large ESR can cause a spike on the chips power ...
The Carver Amp Challenge and the 21st Century and it's Failure
@Elizabeth, @Lowrider - I think I can shed some light on Bob Carver "haters", although I think the term "hater" is really too harsh, at least for me.   I met Bob at a CES show many years ago.   We were both a lot younger then and back then he had ...
Maybe amps need a third terminal?
I have often wondered the same thing about remote sensing feedback.   Out here in CA, many years ago, a small start up called Street's Electronics built a 200W amp (I think it was 200W) and it used a small percentage of current feedback to compens...
Any experience with this amplifier?
I have no experience with it and the price seems too good to be true.   So, for me, I'd be suspicious - especially since it is from out of the country.
