Recapturing my youth I figure $1200-$1500 is about as far as I'll go with purchase, repairs, and shipping.I think for me it's about the speakers I aspired to own as a kid. Growing up in Massachusetts (and eventually being the Ad and PR Manager for Acoustic Research in...
Looking for an amp that punches way about its weight and I can grow with One thing to remember regardless of the amp you buy - it is critically important for you to keep the smoke inside the unit!
Does Steely Dan sound bright to you? I’ve always thought that Steely Dan’s recordings are very good. I didn’t know how good until recently when I bought better equipment. However, there are times when the backup singers sound a bit nasal. I don’t think that is a result of bad recordi...
Schiit customer service seems poor jumia: A dangerous volume control? Seriously? LOL
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers MC: That’s funny as hell!
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers @stereo5 Wow, those are long lead times. 6 months seems excessive, especially with a $4k deposit. That must have been tough. Were the Tritons worth the wait?
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers @bryhifi Double high C. You and Maynard! I actually have CADETS on my vanity plates in MA. The crazy thing is that I never marched DCI. Didn't have the talent. So I've been hopeless romantic fan since the early 80's. 81-85! Damn those were the go...
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers Facten- Yes. Emailed 2 weeks ago to get an update, and then a few days ago. They said they are waiting for components but they were due any day. While everyone there is very nice, there's not even a hint of an estimated ship date. They said they'...
Actual Lead Time on Tekton Speakers Ha! You're probably right. I could NEVER get away with that with my company...
Recommendations for a modestly-priced audio system? I use BT as well for convenience. But don't limit yourself to an integrated amp with BT. Just get a good quality BT receiver (ifi makes nice sounding ones from $100-$800).
Sound quality of Newer versus Older speakers I think the vast majority of improvements have been in materials development. Some very high tech and some not so much. I worked for AR back in the late 80's and we did a HUGE business replacing drive units who's foam surrounds deteriorated. This ...
2 Ohm Tekton Pendragons +1 oldhvymecIn the early 1990’s I worked along side Mark Nazar, the lead designer of the Scintilla at Apogee. He was almost always harping on making sure that the end-user had dedicated, high amperage lines to feed the amps driving his speakers!
2 Ohm Tekton Pendragons Hey Miller - I have a pair of Impact Monitors (4 ohm) on order. So to an extent you are preaching to the converted. I have an amp that will cheerfully drive a nominal 4 ohm load all day long and is stable into 2 ohms. I'm not questioning Eric's te...
Class D for a Tube Lover I run a PS Audio Stellar S300 with a tube pre and find the combination excellent. In addition, the build quality is superb. I'm told that their M1200 mono blocks are tremendous performers but are 2x the price. I believe those amps have a tube on t...
Tube Rolling Woes Thanks for the tips on the contact cleaner and alcohol. It's alway interesting to find that old technologies like WWII tubes have survived the test of time! I'll check out the Bang It method from Jessee and see how that works. I have nothing to lo... |
