Anti-Static Treatments Thanks for the responses so far. I use Auric Illuminator on my CDs, so I was thinking about how to treat my cables. Am I correct that a dryer sheet contains the same chemicals as anti-static spray? Rubbing my cables with a dryer sheet would be les...
Any Thoughts on KEF's new IQ line? Can someone comment on the sound staging? Just how superior (if at all) is the Uni-Q driver at producing a deep sound stage in comparison to more conventional driver arrays? I'm trying to decide between the KEF IQ9 and the Wharfedale Opus 1. Any a...
Dali, Amphion, Zu Does the Dali Ikon 6 sound okay with a solid state amp? I have an NAD C372 integrated. Also, can someone who has one tell me how much you paid for it? Thanks in advance.Tony
Triangle Speakers Thanks for the responses. Yes, I have the 202 version. I had forgotten the name.I don't have any plans to upgrade my amp, so I'm hearing that Triangles might not be the best choice for me.
Problems with Optrix Spray Lkdog,Maybe, I'm using the wrong terminology. What I meant is that Optrix, Auric, Vivid etc. are all designed to help light pass into and out of the CD more easily (without spilling) by providing an interfacing layer of material, while Shine-Ola l...
Problems with Optrix Spray Thanks to everyone for sharing. I've treated several CDs with the new Auric Illuminator and so far (3 weeks later) there is no clouding. I do have some Shine-ola which I use on SACDs, but it is a cleaner rather than a "clarifier" like Optrix is su...
Using Mikro-Smooth w/o Scratching You rinse Mikro-Smooth off the CD with water after polishing, so chemical reaction should not be an issue. Tony
Best way to clean CD's? A somewhat different question: will using Mapleshade Mikro-Smooth + Optrix spray remove all of the mold separater, or is it worth pre-cleaning with a dedicated mold separater remover like LAT International's Once and Done? Tony
CD Tweaks and Longterm Damage Back to the ph question. :-)Granting that the Armorall problems have nothing to do with ph, that still leaves the question whether or not a substance with a non-neutral ph would harm CDs over time (lets say 20 years for the sake of argument). Does...
Alternatives to Stoplight Pen RIP Is the Auric Illuminator pen any good? I was thinking of trying out the Mikro-smooth + Auric + Ionoclast combo to see if it is any better than the Mikro-smooth + Optrix + Ionoclast combo I have been using. Tony
Speaker Wires on Carpet It's called thinking outside the box. The relevant issue is the isolation properties of glass. (And that glass won't stain the carpet, like the substance you propose.) So...back to the original question. How is glass as an isolator?
Speaker Wires on Carpet Would glass also work as an isolator? I was browsing in Pier 1 and saw some glass knickknacks that were about the right size and shape (and price) for running cables over. Tony
Speaker Wires on Carpet Looks like I generated a lively discussion. :-)Let me repeat one of my questions: does it make any difference if the positive and negative runs are twisted together (as they are in many inwall wires) or are running straight and parallel? I thought...
"3 Dimensional Sound"? Thanks for the responses. I might pick up one of those Chesky test CDs and find out if I can hear any height information. Sure would be nice to be born in the 24th century when they have REAL holographic imaging. :-)
Creek amp repair in USA Thanks for the info, guys. I sent my NAD C370 to be repaired at the only authorized service center in Colorado. It took 3 months, and it only worked for a day before it broke again. :-( |
