MapleShade Samson V.2 and V.3 Equipment Racks
FWIW, I replaced my Grand Prix Audio rack with a Mapleshade Samson. It simply sounded better and was about 1/3 the cost.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bondman and Mapman. I am quite familiar with the Silverline as I reviewed the SR17 for SoundStage!, worked a couple shows with Alan and sold the line when I had my shop. Absent a couple of duds which were short lived, Silverline makes some really ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
I should also add countless other speakers I’ve heard on my trips to CES, Stereophile show, etc.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Mapman. The 3000 are on the way from Ohm. I moved to a different house and am using different amps. I needed to go with the 3000 as my listening room has about 2X the volume of my old room. But here’s the thing.I’ve owned/reviewed the following sp...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Nice to see this thread is still going. I had the Micros and was blown away by their sound! I exchanged for a larger Ohm 100- and now 3000. Utterly captivating in their sound.
what is the best sounding speakers for under 5000.
I’ll second the Ohms. In the past 40 years, I’ve owned/reviewed the following speakers ranging from about $300-10,000/pr. Wharfedale W60, EPI 150, Braun L710, DCM Time Window, Spendor SP1/2, Mirage M3-si, Monitor Audio Studio 6, APL Serenade, JM L...
wyred 4 sound vs odyssey khartago
Well, I’m in the same boat looking at the Cyclops and the Wyred4Sound mINT. Both are US made and seem to be a good value. I previously tried a KingRex Class D amp and while the sound was clean as a whistle, it lacked body.
Vibration Theory - Isolate or Drain?
Pubul- I never damped a tube amp chassis, only CDPs and pre-amps. I also packed rope caulk around the transport mechanism. With amps, I usually try to drain out vibration via cones onto a constrained layer platform (Symposium),especially when the P...
Vibration Theory - Isolate or Drain?
Addressing your initial question about isolating/damping CDP against vibratipn, I do both. In the few CDPs over the past 23 years, I’ve dampened the chassis with rope caulk or Mortite. I started using Mortite on the underside of my Denon t-t back ...
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Well, I've just found this thread. Around '04 I was looking for some new speakers. I first bought a pair of Shahinian Obelisks- new. My rig was McIntosh MCD205/C45/MC252. Cut to the short, the Shaninians had a mid-range suck out I wasn't willing t...
Which would you choose to isolate your turntable?
Hi Larry:Probably pretty good. Their BM-1 line can be configured to handle up to 700 lbs, but cost more like $4K which given the t-table's cost, isn't really out of line. It also can isolate down to 0.5 Hz in both horizontal and vertical planes. T...
Which would you choose to isolate your turntable?
Let me clarify. Nobody doing it affordably and readily suited to audio application that can show the data, patents. Halcyonics approaches that levle, but the cost is extremely high.
Which would you choose to isolate your turntable?
Simply put, under my CDP it smokes everything I've used to this point including, Vibraplane, Symposium Ultra/Series2 rollerblocks/tungsten balls, GP Audio Monaco, Solid-Tech Feet of Silence, SRA VR 3.0 Isobases, cones, pucks, sorbothane, etc.Unlik...
McIntosh - is it that great?
I'd have echo Rocketman and say yes, Mc gear is that great. I was one of those sophisticated "audiophiles" who never bother to listen to it always viewed Mc gear as the proverbial "my Dad's Oldsmobile". I've been a hobbyist for over 35 years and h...
Anyone have experience with Running Springs Audio
I had a Haley in my home for some time and found it quite excellent with lowering noise floor and improving the timbral qualities and overall sound reproduction. After trying several PLCs, I ended up with an Exact Power EP-15A, as it worked a bit ...
