For Gustard R26...which bang for the buck: DDC or LHY OCK clock?
Well, I answered my own question.  I turned the DSD Direct on and felt that the sound was better.  It sounds really good.  To confirm, I flipped it on and off with my remote.  I have the benefit of being old, so I couldn't remember what setting it...
Lack of Surround Sound Signal from TV to Processor... Why?
Have you tried a different optical cable? Probably not it, but worth checking.  I'm wondering if the newer Dolby Digital format is not recognized by your processor.... maybe someone smarter than me will chime in.
For Gustard R26...which bang for the buck: DDC or LHY OCK clock?
@kereru @pindac   Stupid question.  If I'm streaming (innuos Zen MK3 by USB to Gustard U18, Gustard U18 by i2S to R26), should I have DSD Direct turned on (on the R26) so that the internal interpolating FIR filter is off?   Would I turn it off if ...
Phono preamp for a Denon 103R cartridge.
I have a Sutherland TZ Vibe that I use with a Hana ML moving coil cartridge and it's excellent.  I haven't heard it with your cartridge.  Ron Sutherland is a very nice man if you wanted to visit with him. He has a good return policy if you wanted ...
Streamer for LTA Aero
@bluethinker Same here.  I've ripped a number of cds that I can't stream, but I see no need to rip all of my cds.  Streaming is super easy and sounds great.  I'm a big fan of the German band RPWL. I have around 11 of their cds and only 5 of these...
Component matching expertise - how do you do it?
I'm not the expert that you mention, but I can tell you how I arrived at my current system. As @ghdprentice mentioned, I sought out components that I felt would satisfy my personal tastes. I first selected my speakers based on prior experience wi...
Streamer for LTA Aero
@phaelon I suspect that some of the boxes that you see people adding are more of an attempt to boost the performance of their dac rather than a shortcoming of the Innuos.  I have a Gustard U18 ddc, but I bought it so I could use the i2s input on m...
Streamer for LTA Aero
I'm using the Innuos with a Gustard R26 r2r dac which is paired with a LHY ock-2 clock. I suspect your Aero is it's equal, or more likely better.  I had mostly been using my Denon DCD-1700NE sacd player and preferred it to streaming with a Node or...
Streamer for LTA Aero
@phaelon it's been a while, but I have Jennifer Warnes - The Hunter ripped and it's available on Qobuz. I think both were equally excellent.  I haven't ripped much that is available to stream.
Streamer for LTA Aero
I'm very happy with my Innuos Zen Mk3 streamer. I have ripped some cds to it.  Mostly stuff that isn't available on Qobuz.  The Sense app that Innuos provides is a selling feature, imo.
What exactly is PRaT???
I had no idea, so I Googled it. Found a lengthy explanation on the-ear.net, but I couldn't get through the article and stay awake. I need Cliffs Notes. Lol.
First impressions: Silversmith Fidelium interconnects
@curiousjim The other post was deleted, so I'm replying here.  Below is Jeffrey Smith's reply to my email.    Hi Steve.  Thanks for reaching out. I’m thrilled that you are still enjoying the speaker cables. Both the XLR and RCA interconnec...
Dedicated CD Transport vs DAC
The dac in my Denon DCD-1700NE sacd player is pretty good. I had tried running it through my Gustard R26 dac via a coaxial digital connection. I tended to prefer the dac in the Denon. I have several digital cables (XLO Ultra, Harmonic Technology, ...
Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing?
@fleschler I have the Von Schweikert Endeavor RE speakers. The less expensive walnut version (otherwise identical to the painted SE). I'm using them with a pair of REL S/510 subwoofers. The speakers are rated down to 28hz, but the subs do improve ...
Turntable suggestions for a newbie
My Marantz TT-15S1 is a nice TT (made by Clearaudio), but if you prefer a different TT, I would recommend that you consider the Hana ML moving coil cartridge and the Sutherland TZ Vibe phono stage.  The Sutherland is lesser known, but there are a ...
