How do you organize all this turntable paraphernalia?? I also have been very pleased with using beautifully decorated used cigar boxes from high-end cigars. They are easily found online or sometimes used/vintage shops. Most have wonderful small clasping mechanisms.
Old guy needs recommendation request for old CD players / DAC Glad to see so many positive comments about the old Sony CD players. At the suggestion of a friend I recently picked up a Sony SCD-777ES player and have been amazed at the beauty of the sound, even red book CDs.
A CD PLAYER whose sound quality NOT AFFECTED by the DAC? moose89 You hit it out of the park with that choice. You will not be disappointed. I own a Sony XA ES model and it is an exceptional experience to play plain old red book CDs on it as well as SACDs Have fun!
Buyer Dispute What LloydC said above is 100% accurate. This is entirely on the seller to fix with a full refund or partial refund depending on the wishes of the buyer. Lloyd I think we come from the same training which normally takes one 3 years to accomplish. ...
That Other Audiophile Website This is very strange to hear. I have bought used audio gear over the years, so many different pieces. Not one has had the smell of cigarette smoke or anything else. Have I just been lucky?I guess I’ll know to ask from now on. I must say, however, ...
Frequency response while streaming stops at 15kHz- did I miss something in the fine print? I think markc nailed it: "I suspect the reason was not my test tones or my system, but a limitation of the iPhone microphone."
Who are the Stand Up Guy's and Gals in this Audio Industry? No mention of Peter Ledermann of Soundmith? Surely an oversite.
Help wanted spending money and improving my system. JB Hiller was right. No one else seems to have really followed your posts and what you said. He said:"Your phono preamp is the weakest link."It isn't even close. Compared to the rest of your system, it is low, low end. A true phono stage upgrade w...
why do so many discussions turn contentious? mwatsme,I think you nailed it:"I think it’s because many of these (mostly) guys have a lot of money/time/effort invested in the hobby, and it has become a significant part of their self-identity. Different ideas threaten that investment and identi...
Budget Phono preAmp The recommended Parasound Zphono but earlier non XRM model can be had for only a bit more than the Mani. It's definitely a step above the Schitt. Also the phono stage of the recommended Adcom GFP 565 is also excellent. I have used both in secondar...
Porsche halcro, wow, thanks. Now that I see where you are I'll have to put that on a southern hemisphere bucket list. Kind of you to offer.
Porsche halcro, and guess which makes me envious of your ownership...amazing cars.
Porsche My Porsche driving experience goes back to the one I drove while in college, having graduated in ’66. I’ll let you do the math. It was a mildly rusted 356b Speedster that had a blown engine that was replaced with a VW motor. Driving the rural back...
Helping a friend build a new system Lots of ideas and ways to go, but if CDs are the initial medium of choice, then the CD player he already has needs to be worthy enough to be used as a transport with a quality DAC which must be made part of the system being budgeted for. Otherwise...
Cartridge leads? I do a fair amount of cartridge mounting and made up my own memory device for this. All I need to remember is (R)ed for (R)ight signal and white for left signal. The correct pairings are remembered visually by the December holidays. Christmas (red... |
