Cost Effectiveness of Bi-Wiring Improvements?
bi-wiring has always lead to an improvement in my experience.  In some cases, I've used less expensive cables for bass with good results, but my recommendation would be to keep the cables the same if at all possible. Do you have other cables layi...
Upgrading power system
Power outlets made an improvement in my system.  I went with the AQ Edisons.  I have 2 friends running shunyata outlets who have told me it made as much of an improvement as going from the stock PC to a good aftermarket one.  I have to say I agree...
Audio Research, AYON and Primaluna tube amplifiers.
@onemadchemist  I haven't heard the Ayon, but I had my Ref 6 upgraded to the SE late last year.  My biggest observation was that the soundstage sounds more dense.  I don't know how it would compare to the Ayon in that context but it was noticeable...
To hot or not ???????????
@erik_squires   For what it's worth, I've had 3 of the kaiweets tester and they all measured my line voltage at 114V.  Further testing with a fluke meter (and confirmed with another good DVM) showed that these readings were off and my actual lin...
NODE as just a streamer / Airplay device
I use a node with an external DAC with good (better than the internal dac) results. Maybe you could store the files you want to play on your network?
Considering a new amp for my Vandersteen Quatro CT
Just want to point out that the ARC LS15 specs suggest that using it with an amplifier with input impedance less than 20K ohms (balanced) is not recommended.   The CODA is the only amp of those you mentioned that does not meet this spec.   I a...
Aurender n100h fuse removal
The image at the link below shows the fuse holder removed, showing the location.  there is a tab on the bottom (IEC inlet side) that you use to pull the fuse carrier out. 4304.6090
What cable companies make the best cables and sell them directly?
sain line systems makes some of the best cables I've ever heard. Excellent power cables and the silver ribbon interconnects are really something. https://sainlinesystems.com/
Are You Happy With Your Phono Preamp?
My latest moves have been going from a parasound JC3 to ARC PH8 (cannot understate the level of improvement).  I was blown away. Shortly after I traded the PH8 in on an ARC Ref Phono 3.  Again, I was absolutely stunned.  I didn't realize what I h...
Audio Research SP17
From the SP17 manual: OUTPUT IMPEDANCE: 210 ohms Single Ended main; 20K ohms minimum load and 1000 pF maximum capacitance. Outputs (3): 2 main, 1 record (Single Ended RCA connectors). Record output 60K ohms minimum load and 100pf maximum capacit...
Audio Research SP17
The SP17 is great.  Do you know the input impedance of your pass camp amps?
$20k(ish) tube preamps
I've been running an Audio Research Ref 6SE for a little over a year and I couldn't be happier.   What are you replacing?
Rogue Audio and Audio Research Comparisons
@runwell I got my 160S in December, directly replacing my '75SE. The '75SE is a sweetheart of an amp.  I love the way it looks and I've used it with Von Schweikert VR4SR and Vandersteen 5A speakers (and a couple others for short times).   In com...
Voltage regulators and input impedance
As I understand it, the only risk of going below that 20K amplifier input impedance is that the bass may roll off prematurely. I do not believe it's related to your power tube issue.
Rogue Audio and Audio Research Comparisons
The REF75SE is a really great amp, congrats! My 160S blows it out of the water, but my '75SE isn't going anywhere.
