Rogers LS3/5a Repair
I know this sounds a bit lame, but have you turned the driver upside down in the cabinet? If it has just loosened up a little around the spider and the voice coil is touching the magnet, this may be all you need to do.
Lyra Dorian to Argo i, worth the upgrade?
Only if your Dorian is shot and needs to be replaced anyway.
How to get rid of hum from Linn LK140
30% of the time, a hum from the transformer in the amp is a problem with the amp. The other 70% its a problem with your mains supply to the amp.
LS3/5a's - what amps are you using?
1982 16 ohm Rogers LS3/5a. Using a Naim 250.2 for 1 year and prior to that, a Hafler DH200 for 23 years. With good quality amplification and a clean front end (LP12/Ekos/Argo or a NAIM CDX2), there's no problem.
Naim amps??

How different is Lyra Dorian to the Shelter 501 II
I think you will find the Shelter is on the "warmer", "euphonic" side of neutral while the Lyra is on the "cool", "analytical" side. This was my finding when I auditioned the 901 and the Argo, assuming each brand has a similar sonic signature.keith
Linn dealer recommendation for Los Angeles?
A little bit further than Santa Monica, but Gene Rubin in Thousand Oaks probably set up more LP12s in his time than all the rest of the LA dealers combined! Gene is no longer a Linn dealer, but he should be able to tune it up and make it sing!Keith
Adjusting Linn Keltiks
Once you've got to this point, you need someone with an SPL meter to help you set the controls. Sounds like speaker placement is not optimal either. Agree with Newmanoc - get your Linn dealer in - at the price of an active Keltik system, they are ...
Naim Stageline versions
Don't know the specifics but according to NAIM there was a change in 2003:http://www.naim-audio.com/products/intro_history.htmlI notice that some versions of the Stageline on audiogon have a single DIN socket while others have two (they both have ...
Ls 3/5a sound without the price.....
If you like the LS3/5a, buy a used pair (about $600). The original Kans are the complete antithesis of the LS3/5a, despite their outward similarities!KeithLP12/Ekos/ArgoDenon AU320Hafler 101/200Rogers LS3/5a
Shure V15VxMR to be discontinued
The resonant frequency of the V15 in a medium mass arm is, indeed, lower than is customarily considered optimal. However, the brush damps this resonance to the point that warps and footfalls are not the problem (sonically or structurally) that an ...
Has anybody tried a Shelter 501/Linn Ekos comb.
The Ittok headshell is a little longer than the Ekos so there's more room for the cartridge pins/wires. My Lyra Argo is a real tight fit in the Ekos so I imagine the Denon may be also.I loved the Denon 103D cartridge I owned 20 years ago but I'm n...
Maintenance on Hafler DH200 & DH101
The DH200 really didn't need any maintenance. The DH101 has two weak points. The volume comtrol can get noisy - use contact cleaner if the pot has an access hole (the noisy ones usually did). The switches would stick in the white (on) position - e...
Beogram 3000 linear tracking worth resurecting?
The arm was automatic. Just press play and it should spin, position the arm and lower it. If it dosesn't, then the autoplay isn't working. Repairing might be very difficult.Keith
O.K. Fess Up. Come Clean. Sing Like A Canary.
Am I missing something here???? 48 hours of play time is barely enough to "burn in" the catridge (if you believe in that). What damage occurs to the (diamond) stylus "playing" a vinyl record for 48 hours when they typically last 1000 - 3000 hours ...
