WOULD IT BE DUMB TO BUY A MARK LEVINSON NO 23.5
Hello jeffvegas, Glad to hear you're back on track. My local dealer sold Levinson during the Madrigal era, and I remember the transition from the 23.5 to the 331/332/333 and later the 334/335/336. I never owned any of the 33X series stuff, however,...
WOULD IT BE DUMB TO BUY A MARK LEVINSON NO 23.5
I just finished reading this thread...really sorry to hear you had to sell your new found treasure, jeffvegas. Audiophiles are a fickle lot, so you'll get a crack at owning another one, or even a chance to buy yours back. Audiogon is like a pawnsh...
WOULD IT BE DUMB TO BUY A MARK LEVINSON NO 23.5
I just bought one with a mint exterior and an original interior. Still sounds good, but I'm going to pony up the scrilla to have it refurbished so the insides match the outsides. Legendary kick ass amp deserves a chance to drive a current pair of ...
I need help with a Jadis amp
Further thoughts... If I had to do it over again, I would have gone with something from Audio Research, or an equally good American tube amp manufacturer. I don't think there is an affordable way to own a Defy 7.
I need help with a Jadis amp
The Defy 7 has a very high input impedance, so its not really particular about what preamp you mate with it, and not too picky about interconnects either. With my Defy, I enjoy great sound with a Jadis DPL, and previously, a Levinson 38S. Your m...
Lottery Winner would buy what kind of Stereo Gear
I would put together my "dream system" from the days when I first became involved in this obsession, (1990ish,) and a two versions of current state of the art, one tube based, and one solid state based. I would likely derive more enjoyment finding...
VPI motor makes loud pops when turned on & off
I had this same problem, after "upgrading" my 600rpm motor with the 300rpm kit. A LOUD snap when turning my motor off and forgetting to mute my preamp, and a lower level pop, even with the preamp muted. The situation could be mitigated, somewhat, ...
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Yamaha R1, with the stock exhaust in place for street riding, a fairly quite Suomy helmet, and I wear earplugs of course. My weekend ski trip mobile/grocery/kid hauler is a Mercedes wagon. Good for hauling audio gear, too. Self leveling rear suspe...
If you would have to choose between Focal and B&W.
I just bought some B&W 686s, and they are an order of magnitude better than I expected them to be. I discovered this by accident while putting together a system for my daughter. Not finding anything that really fit the bill on E-bay for cheap,...
Rega P3-24 help required.Right Ch. Distortion
Miner, I used to have a Rega P-3, and was able to effectively isolate it on the cheap using sorbothane feet. Starting with a level surface, fine tuning the level was just a matter how I placed the feet in relationship with the turntables weight/ba...
Mark Levinson 432 vs 532 vs 532H
The 532H is obviously built to a price point, made with many cost cutting features. It has power supplies that are about 1/3 the rating of similar power spec. Levinson amps preceding it. I've also noticed in the brochure, what might be a "Levinson...
Review: Ortofon OM-5e Cartridge
Thanks for taking the time, I found it to be a helpful review. I'm setting up my father's turntable for him this week. Interestingly enough, it's a Pioneer PL 518. So, to read about the Ortofon OM 5E as being compatible with that table and arm was...
KT120 Tube compatibility w/ Jadis Defy 7 Amp MK 1
Bradleys, I was able to get a schematic from Jadis, eventually, for my Defy 7 Mk 2, SN 623. (They said mine is a Mk 2, but it has the larger power transformer and looks like a Mk 3 to me.) The scan they sent me is a little fuzzy, but it is usable...
Best power amp to match Sonus Extrema speakers
My goal is to own that same pair of speakers, and I intend on driving them with a Levinson 23.5.
Any Jadis Defy 7 MKII experts out there?
I thought I might add that I also replace the 180Ohm resistors with Kiwame 2watt/180R soldered in such a way that if a tube goes bad, the solder melts and gravity works as a fuse. In other words, I no longer solder them through the thru holes, but...
