$2000 turntable system
FWIW (from a newbie who jumped into vinyl last year) I would evaluate the budget decision in light of the cost of putting together a vinyl collection.  While I have read many threads about buying minty used vinyl for $2-$3 each, my experience has ...
The right footing for a turntable
Setting aside the suggestions to anchor the table to bedrock, as a newb, I would appreciate some commentary on my current setup and whether I should employ some tweaks to optimize it. My system is in the basement  - wall to wall carpet over concre...
Happiness achieved
Audio systems are like cars to me (another of my passions) - while I am indifferent to many, some can capture my imagination and never let go.  Unfortunately it is far easier to test drive a wide variety of interesting cars than it is audio system...
Best integrated up to $6000
Marantz PM 11S3

2channel8 - I assume you jest, but I have been a little curious what the benefit of an SACD upgrade would contribute.  The 8004 is pretty fantastic - I have some SACD's, XRCD's and HDCD's and the detail is awesome.
Putting together a system...looking for some suggestions
I recommend buying used - you can double the value of your system options, and I believe at $4k you can see a material improvement in overall system components, particularly WRT speakers.  You should have a few good options on the integrated for b...
My final table , hopefully !
+1 on  buying used.  Not much love around here, but I picked up a Music Hall MMF 9.1 used for $700 and added a Dynavector cart.  Awesome sound and great build quality (also great reviews online if you hunt around).  I have listened to several VPI ...
Best Integrated amp for under 4k
I just upgraded to a Marantz PM-11S3.  Bought a gently used one for well under your $4K budget.  Love it.
Please help ...integrated amp under $1200
If you only want to buy new, the Marantz PM-8005 is exactly $1,200.  Has excellent phono amp and headphone amp.  They can also be picked up refurbished from several dealers for $999 and used for $700-$800.  This amp is hard to beat for the money.
Marantz and Stereophile?
Pulled the trigger on the PM-11s3.  Very happy. Now I am tempted to keep the PM-8005 for a future second system.
Help me decide on new amp please
Pulled the trigger on the Marantz PM -11S3.  Everything I was hoping for.  Pairs beautifully with my Focals.
Help me decide on new amp please
BTW -the seller of the Hegel is going to let me test drive it at home with my current setup.  Hope to do so in the next week or so, but still would like opinions on the big Marantz vs Hegel.  Thanks.
Help me decide on new amp please
Mesch - not sure I follow.  The Hegel is the cheaper of the two options and comes with the MS phono stage.Kingshead - I assume you mean keep the 8005.  Not familiar with the B&K st-140 amps, but this seems to be a 20 year old + amp. Any reason ...
Marantz and Stereophile?
Thanks for the feedback. I am inclined to hold on until I can go for the PM-11S3.  I have looked at lots of ways to upgrade , but frankly, the current system sounds pretty damn good and my wife is not a big music buff, so playing at higher listeni...
Marantz and Stereophile?
I am also on the Marantz bandwagon.  I currently have a PM8005 and a SA8004 SACD player, as well as a Music Hall TT with MM cartridge.  Speakers are Focal Chorus 836V.  I love the overall sound, but always tempted by the upgrade bug. Room is odd s...
