Sonus Faber Extremas ?
I heard these "amazing" speakers in a set up running 100 wpc tubes.Forgot the mfgr.,though! My point is that these speakers amazed me with their huge stage presentation, and dynamics.Very fine timbres, which are critical,to me! One very important po...
Kondo audio Note MC Step up Transformer
Thomas, one thing for sure is the Japanese definitely have their own set of tastes,in this hobby!!Not a bad thing, and fascinating, but different. As to your querry, you have answered your own question,IMO.It is "system" dependent, and by this I mean t...
compressor for airbearing table
I do believe the "WISA" aquarium pump is considered the best,in this application. Not cheap, and it had a distributor who modded it,for audio purposes.I wish I could give you more input here. Also, some compressors used for dentist drills(don't laugh)...
Vitus audio?
I find it hard to believe that the better Pass models, like the XA-160's,would not be completely in this league.Unless,of course, one is inclined to have expensive boutique stuff, which has been inflated by the U.S. dollar being weak in Europe.
tonearm match ZYX Universe Moerch and Triplanar
I think I have to agree with Thomas.Any "ringy" response is usually a mismatch,in the "tracking chain".Unless one has a tube pre/phonostage,with a bad tube. In the set-up I heard, which had the ZYX Universe, there was a slight sibilence, and subtle l...
Jeff Rowland Capri preamp
Rowland stuff, sometimes,is criticised(wrongly,IMO).These products are built to heirloom standards, and hold up very well as to sound. Also,Jeff is a class act!
CES / THE Show
To me,the Peak El Diablo is a very beguiling design. It looks to be superb in implementation,as it needs VERY little power.I have seen it's impedence curve, which was amazing. The SET crowd would love this "baby"!Too bad it is so pricey!I have heard,...
Pass XA-160 and Avalon Eidolon
Jwin, nice to hear from you.I want to mention that if possible, the distance from your rear wall can be stretched another few feet. This would greatly enhance staging.I originally had my speakers five feet from rear, but wound up moving them to 8 ft o...

SOTA COSMOS,with Black Gloss fountainhead plinth, and the red platter top.A giant killer if there ever was one!!
For the vinyl enthusiasts
In New Jersey,The Princeton Record Exchange.Once truly a great place, but still worth a good peek, especially for JAZZ titles, and pop.The Classical section is low on audiophile stuff, but there is a wealth of one dollar bargains, like Londons(British)...
How do you change a belt on a Sota Cosmos
Hmm,I cannot understand why the belt would be stuck under the platter, unless it rotated and got caught up on something.I have had belts,on older SOTA's last ten years(literally)without a problem. There is no need to take off an armboard, under norma...
Brinkman Balance Comparisons
Rick, finally!Best of luck, and you made a great choice. One thing to consider(from the Sid school of buying)is that the component is able to be serviced in a reasonable fashion,in terms of as little potential hassle as possible, should that scenario ...
How do you change a belt on a Sota Cosmos
Nrchy,I assume you have the new COSMOS.Right? If you do,take off the little plate on the left of the table, near the motor(above the power switch). It is held on by velcro and comes off easily. You will see the belt, supported by the platter, and capsta...
CES / THE Show
Albert, funny thing!!I have heard a load of MBL exhibits over the years, and could NEVER cozy up to the sound. Stick with your own intuitive senses,as they seldom lie! Best!
Pass XA-160 and Avalon Eidolon
Johnsonwu,I have the fabulous Ascent MK-II being driven by a highly modded Rowland 8T,two chassis amp.My amp is putting out 200 wps, into a 22x13 ft dedicated(sealed) room.I have no problem with dynamics, though I have been told the Ascents like pow...
