how do i get more bass w/o adding a sub
Learn how to use your speakers, how to place them. A couple of bass traps on your room corner should help.
Why we should support music...
Music is the reason we keep coming to Agon.
Do you ever just listen to music
The only moment when i do critical listening to a system is when buying. Other than that, i enjoy the music.

I dont own it, but some friends say that its the best Dac you can have for less than $500.
Why does the copy sound better than the original
Probably ripping software is doing a good job there. :)
A Dac about two thousand used
Burson Conductor (Sabre 32 Dac) is a solid recommendation below 2k. It acts as a preamp-headphone amp too.

SB touch have unique features that you may not find on another players easily. I say keep it if you're happy.

Best Upgradeable DAC ?
@douglas, your point makes sense. I totally agree with you, technology on this audio world keeps improving and you have to upgrade the whole machine not only certain parts to achieve the best performance.
In what price range do I need to go for a Dac ?
For less than 2k the Burson conductor with the ESS SABRE32 Dac chip seems promising. It acts as a preamp too.
