Best midrange on SS amp ? Consider the GamuT 250 monoblocks. GamuT amps are among the most accurate and musical sounding.

Best Used Solid State Amp for less than $5000? I strongly recommend auditioning a GamuT D-200 Mk. III. This is a wonderful SS amplifier. The Mk.III is more refined then their previous vintages. TAS highly regarded the Mk.I. I understand they like the MK. III even more and will have a complete ...
What seperates "hi-fi" from "mid-fi" in cdp's? You asked for specific brands in your followup response. I used to own the Rega Jupiter 2000 and found it very satisfying for a mid price unit. It was very musical, analog sounding and nonfatiging. Definitely hi fi to me. There are some excellent ...
Is Nelson's pre as good as his amp ? I have had the Pass X2.5 preamp for five months, initially into the Aleph 5 with balanced interconnects and now into the GamuT D-100 Mk. III. This is a wonderful fully balanced SS preamp. It is very quiet, with excellent clarity, smooth, great sou...
Power cord craze What should I get for $100 I can't think of one for 100, but for a little more the JPS Lab GPA 2 PC is very good.

JPS Lab Superconductor+ speaker cable break-in? I found two points of minimal contact between my interconnects and preamp power cord. I am not sure if the separation helped, but after a few more hours playing time the cable is sounding better again. I understand this cable design gives one a ro...
Have you ever deceived your wife-audio purchase New power cords and interconnects go rather unnoticed!I have auditioned so many components, my wife figures I'll probably send it back. After 36 years, she pretty much has accepted my addiction! When I upgraded my LP 12 and ML preamp years ago, th...
Most "Non-Digital" Sounding CDP My GamuT CD1R approaches live performances at times. I played the opera Tosca after returning from the live performance of the same and was very impressed by the simularity. Associated equipment includes Pass X2.5 preamp, GamuT amp, Chapman Speake...
What's under YOUR CD player? I use Aurio 1.2s under my GamuT CD1R with 1/4 inch mapleboard between CDP and Aurio to dampen metal to metal resonance which works well for me. I also use the JPS LabsDigital AC PC which isolates the digital and filters out digital grunge. |
