New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Geoffno, haven't googled micro arcs yet today.......I actually have other things more pressing to do with my time during the day :)............Perhaps this evening, if only because I'm a curious guy.ShadorneSuspect a bad-loose connection in my TT ...

n80Glad that you and your wife are hearing differences, that's the beginning :)For the sake of ease and simplicity.....my rather involved and lengthy discussion last night on room treatments  aside, I would suggest treating only the first reflecti...
Better CDP or network player?
Thanks for the advice folks. I do not currently have a stand alone DAC. The units I'm initially considering would be the Marantz  S14s1 CDP or the Marantz NA11s1 network player. The S14s1 does allow stand alone DAC usuage. Both can currently be ha...

FrankHonestly wasn't trying to diss you or Pss you off, it was more in the spirit of good natured banter.....at least that was my intention......I have a dry sense of humor.Yeah, I actually am a measure ten times, cut once guy...and I still make m...
How to keep my stack of Adcoms cool...
I run a Bryston 4BST in an open rack, but it still gets hotter than I'd prefer. Picked up a high quality 12vdc PC fan for about $15 on Amazon.....Noctua NF-S12A FLX........made in Austria.............very quiet, 18db, barely hear it with no music....

geoff, just for fun, to humor you and to possibly learn something I don't know, which is always useful, I'll google micro arcing.Frank, dear man, I think I answered your question without pointedly doing so. Pretty sure I never referred to myself, ...

n80..............hmm.......OK, heavy curtains will help attenuate high and some mid frequencies, everything will bounce off the brick, uncovered windows and any other hard, flat surface. Carpet will soak up a bit of the higher frequencies also. No...

OK, found and read your referenced paper. They're talking about voltages in the hundreds of thousands of volts.......................Uhhhhh, call me stupid, been called worse, but I'm pretty darn sure audio gear doesn't usually fall into that cate...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
At the risk of not having read the referenced text, it would seem to refer to high voltage arcing. Audio gear, with the possible exception of tube gear, primarily operates at low voltages, so I don't see the relevance.....perhaps I should read it ...
New Tweak --- Its Fantastic
Were you simply hawking a new and (possibly) better contact cleaner, I might be willing to give it  a shot. Your absurd rants about micro-arcing, etc. are little short of ridiculous, smoke and mirrors for the great unwashed and ill-informed masses...

n80Take your time, read a lot, educate yourself about the hobby. What you may not be able to do or may not be willing to do may change in a year or five. Life situations as well as where we live seldom remain stagnant forever. At some point you ma...

n80Not surprising that some music sounds better one way, other music sounds worse. I think what you're hearing is the difference in recording quality between discs. The better your setup the more details you'll hear in each recording.......The dow...

elizabethI am currently my "significant other" also. Sadly, I lost my wife and best friend of 40 years last October. It's been a very difficult time. If there is any upside to it, it is that I have been able to optimize my system and room far bett...

Set upThere are endless "tweaks" out there, some useful, some not. In my experience, the best bang for the buck is a proper set up, meaning you take some time to find out where your speakers will sound best and where your listening chair or couch ...
Do HDMI Cables make a Difference?
$$$ cables and tweaks in general, may or may not make a noticeable improvement in your gear. Depends on the cable and use. Try to stay with something returnable in the event that you either don't see or hear real improvement or it's marginal and h...
