Need to turn volumn up to break in speaker cable?
Gunbei,Actually this should have no effect on your sound at all. Just be wary of any male neighbours who volunteer to help you relieve the musical stiffness in your cables.
Who's Your Favorite Bass Players; Why?
John Deacon. I agree with a lot of the posts already but thought he should be addedJohn Deacon of Queen fame wrote "I want to Break Free" and I believe was largely reponsible for Queen's ability to produce such very memorable/catchy "primordial rh...
your opinion on subwoofers in two channel
Depends on your two channel audio objectives, for each objective my suggestions are; Balance of esthetics, quailty & function: get small moderately priced speakers (6" woofers or less, 6 db at 60 to 100 Hz) and a reasonably priced mid-size sub...
Speaker and amp balance question?????
Please disregard my previous post. I see from your posted system that you have modified the original crossover of the Hales T-5's and have changed the original aluminium tweeter to a Seas Excel Millenium soft dome fabric tweeter.Your x-over design...
Need to turn volumn up to break in speaker cable?
It is a real compromise. Try to burn in with what you like listening to most ...and that will be best.If you burn in with Jazz music then rock will sound funky. If you burn in with a computer signal then all music will sound digital. If you burn in ...
Speaker and amp balance question?????
I suspect you have an intermittent problem either with your amp or your speaker....most likely one of the tweeters themselves because they are mechanical and can certainly fail for a variety of reasons (and after all that is what you just got back...
Did I really need a sub woffer in the first place?
Bigjoe and Bignerd100,I am confused. Which is better? Putting the sub in Breuning11's listening chair and crawling around on the floor while ajdusting phase and volume for each position.or Sitting in the listening chair and moving the sub all arou...
Did I really need a sub woffer in the first place?
This speaker is not designed to work with a sub woofer. The 5 way Veritas 2.4 dual ported design is known for an impressive and weighty base. Energy do not state their THD figures but they do say that 25% THD is acceptable in a high-end speaker and...
Speaker Life
I don't think you can generalize....a lot depends on the speaker manufacturer and their design philosophy. It can probably vary from as little as 5 years to much longer. At one extreme are pro studios, where robustness is very important, usage is h...
Gallo Nucleus reference II tweeter not working
There was another post about this same issue last week from someone else.Perhaps, you could get together and call the manufacturer of the speaker. A good manufacturer should stock replacement parts even for older models or, at least, an upgrade pa...
Is harmonic accuracy and timbre important at all?
Bigtee and UnsoundI agree that Vandersteens and Dunlavys are great speakers but I think they are good for many more reasons than flat frequency response.Fairly flat frequency response is desirable but, like phase linearity, by itself this specific...
Best MONITORS availables
Not heard of any pro studios using any of these monitors yet ....but if the sound quality is as impressive as the esthetic design then they must be very good.Good luck!
Gallo Reference tweeters, fixable?
If you are having problems you should contact the manufacturer directly. I have repaired speakers three times very easily and at very little cost. When a dealer gives me the run around I simply go to the manufacturer directly.....(dealers naturall...
Preamp choice
I don't think it matters that much - any good SS preamp should work - I would go for the features you need rather than try to match. I used a Rotel and then switched to an Anthem preamp with my 4B ST...I honestly can't tell if there is any differe...
Is harmonic accuracy and timbre important at all?
Unsound,Ooops.... Please don't get me wrong...I used the Dunlavy as an example simply because they are well known as a really great speaker. You will notice that in my first post that I state they are "great speakers".My point was that two divergen...
