Burning in period Nautilus 800?
B&W Drivers should need only a few minutes or maximum of a few hours. If it still sounds different after a week then your old drivers may have been damaged/over driven or something is wrong (for example did you make sure that the seal is airti...
Sony 40
This is a common problem when screen pixels are fixed and don't match source signal pixels. You may need a good upscaler. I bought a Plasma EDTV for the kitchen because of this problem (downscaling is much less of a problem). In the familly room I...
Preamp output voltage...affect on volume???
Quite simply a higher gain will result in a louder sound. The volume dial alows you to adjust the gain. A higher maximum ouput implies nothing unless you know the maximum input level.Suppose that all signals are RCA line level and unbalanced; inpu...
Richard Gray's 400 Pro = Emperor's New Clothes??
Another way to look at it is that your Rega and Rotel gear is already handling power supply issues/variations as par for the course (as any highly respectable electronics really should)Perhaps your results simply reflect the high quality of your o...
What must I correct to get the perfect sound?
Oops, in the last post I gave the URL to the letters feedback to this Original Loud CD Article
how to put center channel voices in rear speakers
I enjoy hearing the dialog in the rear speakers as well as in the center Frankly, I don't think I would like it from the rear at all but I am kinda conservative and I have no direct experience I guess. How did you happen to get exposed to vocals ...
What must I correct to get the perfect sound?
Just some thoughts; 1) your expectations might be based on "boomboxes", car audio and typical home audio bass heavy systems (What sells best at Circuit City). These systems are often full of distortion and resonance in the low end because buyers d...
Problem with Arcam or JM LABS
"Thick and slurred" is probably distortion somewhere rather than an incorrect volume setting. Perhaps an electronic problem with the center channel on the amp?
Eidolon or Eclipse Classic
Certainly a three way will be better and worth 4K (provided you like the lightweight Accuton C79 Ceramic mid and you have a medium to large room).
Getting rid of harsh, shrill treble
An SS amp is relatively unaffected by speaker impedance compared to tubes.Your speakers are a tough load for a tube amp. I'd prefer 8 ohm nominal speakers with tubes. In any case, you are talking band aid solutions....the problem is your speakers....
Getting rid of harsh, shrill treble
It is your speakers. The highest fundamental note on the violin is like 2000 Hz so most of the problem is likely in the mid range. Two way speakers are awesome but it is still demanding of a 6.5" driver to cover up to 2.5 Khz. The rigid magnesium c...
Need to steer away from Bryston amp added to AVR
want to have a noticeable improvement in sound. Given the relatively modest size of your main speakers I think you have a great and well balanced set up with your Denon @130 W per channel. I don't believe you can achieve a noticeable difference g...
haunting/dark classical
Myraj didn't mean Chopin, it was Chop in, as in Chop in half with a chain saw, now that is dark and haunting!
What are the best monitor speakers for classical?
Classical Fred,I think if you look second hand you may find a floorstander in your price range from some of the models above (not their top of the line perhaps)
haunting/dark classical
Try Danny Elfman much of his work, Prokofiev Romeo & Juliette, Mahler much of his work, Mozart Requiem, Don Giovanni, Wagner much of his work, Verdi Chorus of Hebrew Slaves ...too works to many to list here
