Try bicycles,go outside ride around, each time you go out to ride it's a bit different, you will get the upgrade bug, but it's far cheaper than audio. you also get some exercise Yes and things sound better after a beer or a glass of wine...the bes...
Getting off the merry-go-round – AFRAID TO???
I am no longer afraid. There are so many different sounds and colorations out there that it is impossible to stop unless you are prepared to accept a reference. I chose what many of the experts in making studio recordings choose. It is more than go...
Do high level sub inputs really sound better?
Huh? Low level XLR cables are fine even for long runs.
Efficient Dynamic Speaker with low-end punch?
You should look at horns. For example Klispch RF-83. Make sure you audtion - horns are not everyone's taste but they will give you efficiency.
Counterfeit Audio?
Suppose you know that a certain cable has fake amazing electrical properties and you buy this fake cable from a source that you know only sells fake products. My question is whether the cable you receive is a actually fake or not?....apologies to M...
amplifier DB meters
Bob,Music is dynamic. An amplifier meter is only indicative of clipping/power. Power is a function of load (resistance/reactance) and load is a function of frequency. More expensive amplifiers will have a high speed soft clipping circuit to protec...
I need help on directionality of speaker cables
I've just asked one of my colleagues in the same firm who is an EE and without any hesitation said that it's DC in digital. He needs to go back to school. Digital data is usually sent with an encoding such as Biphase Mark Code. This essentially a...
1 or 2 subwoofer for small room & placement
IMHO, it depends...two low quality subs might cost the same as a single high quality sub but may not sound better. Obviously two identical subs should play louder and more accurately than a single sub - but integrating them will be more difficult....
Out of control bass--help
I suggest you download the Manual from Anthem Website. You have the ability to control the individual level sent to each speaker including the sub. It sounds like you need to adjust the levels first and then play with the crossover. The notch filter...
What is "polite" sound?
A polite sound does not have an odor.
I need help on directionality of speaker cables
he reason I ask is that a digital signal, by it's very nature, doesn't have frequency in the way analog signals do. As I've quoted above from a reputable book on electronics, a digital waveform is a DC signal that varies between zero volts and a ...
Obsessed with room acoustics
After assembling a modest system - room acoustics probably has the biggest impact on sound quality.I agree with those that say careful selection of furnishings can really help.I drew the line at a custom designed soffit mounted main speaker and eq...
What is "polite" sound?
"Polite" sound is often what reviewers say when they can't define a specific defining characteristic of a component or speaker (i.e. descriptors like deep bass or scintillating highs, edgy, bright, harsh, sibilant or recessed don't seem to apply e...

I need help on directionality of speaker cables
My understanding was that audio signals could be carried as DC, but that AC was required for speakers to allow them to vibrate in piston fashion. They could be carried as DC but they are not (in fact the sound you hear is alternating compression ...
