Mystery 30 Minute Sound Degradation
The fuses do take some time to burn in and can sound strange for a while. Do you leave your electronics on all the time? You could be experiencing warm up. I leave all my solid state electronics on all the time. It might be considered wasteful, bu...
ANY EXPERIANCE WITH PASS LABS AND MONTANA EPS2?
I have listened to JDoris's system several times and the Pass and the EPS2s are a great combo. Very smooth with female vocals and the speakers don't have to be pushed with a large amp to sound great.
Stereo and Fish tanks - noisy need help
I have worked for some of the largest fish stores in the world in the last 30 years and have 1000 gallons of fish tanks in my basement now. I'm something of a cichlidophile.
Stereo and Fish tanks - noisy need help
For that size tank don't buy eheim or fluval look into Ocean Clear canisters they will handle the largest of aquariums. I've had mine for over 15 years. Available at That Fish Place or Drs. Foster and Smith. You select he size pump for your tank. ...
Stereo and Fish tanks - noisy need help
What kind of fish are you keeping? I was going to build my aquariums into my stereo room but was afraid of the noise and left them outside the entrance in a kind of fish lobby room.
Possible impedance matching issue with subwoofer?
Hi All,While it is true that many manufacturers including ARC do make a balanced designed preamp, they don't conform to the balanced spec. (I'm sure this has a name, I'm not aware of it.) But I was having a similar problem as Grannyring between my...
Mach2Music mini and Amarra : Huge disappointment
I have put together a great system built around the PS Audio PWT, PWD, and Bridge now at MK II status. At times it has been a frustrating experience. As an early adopter of this system I've taken a crash course in all manner of new vocabulary and ...
Possible impedance matching issue with subwoofer?
Hi Granny,Yep, this is another example of poorly executed balanced circuits that do not meet the balanced specs set by the recording industry but not implemented correctly by home audio. The seeming inability of the home audio and theater industry...
My Final Amplifier Purchase - What Would You Buy?
Hi,I just retired and bought my amps for life. I invested in CODA amps and preamp. CODA was formed by Doug Dale and a group of engineers who worked for Threshold along with Nelson Pass when it went under. Pass formed Pass Labs the rest formed CODA...
Pass XA Monoblock Amps with Audio Research Preamps
Just so you know ARC preamps are not really balanced according to the official balanced guidelines they do offer balanced type connectors. As a result the ARC preamps don't work well with low impedence amplifiers like many solid state amps are. I'...
What Are The Best Desktop Speakers?
Those are great little speakers. Might be hard to beat.
PS Audio PerfectWave DAC Upgrade
This is one of the biggest no brainer upgrades I've ever heard. It is a remarkable improvement. One can hear the results as soon as you plug the unit in and press play. Better bass, wider soundstage, image location, image size is proper, all the t...
Power Cord brands mixing. "Your Opinions"
I concur with Doug. I've had mixed cables and two different sets of all the same manufacturer cables. I do admit that this is hardly a very diverse sample of all the cable choices out there. But I have preferred all Signal Cable or all Synergistic...
Classe move to China
Paul McGowan of PS Audio fame tried the Chinise Connection for a number of years. Now he has brought all of his production back to the states and his products are now "all American" except I would guess some of the resistors, capacitors, etc. may ...
Any Caviar Fans Here?
First I'm an avid fisherman who has enjoyed catching and eating many species of fish including sturgeon and paddlefish. I've never eaten caviar but would not be critical of what others consume. I live close to the Mississippi and have witnessed th...
