Sony SCD-XA-5400 ES DAC Match I've run an HDMI out to my NAD M51 dac just for kicks. It converts the signal to PCM and outputs 176.4khz. I've A-B'd it against straight up analog outs. The 5400ES seems a bit more relaxed and natural as I guess it should.
Oppo BDP-95 Weakest Link Did you audition the Ayre at home with your equipment hooked to it? If not it really isn't an apples to apples comparison and some other part of the equation may be affecting your opinion. Speakers, amps, the room itself, etc. If you did audition ...
Oppo BDP-95 Weakest Link Coincidentally I have a Technics 1200MKII (with a Grado Sonata) and an OPPO BDP-95 setup in a downstairs office system. The rest of the equipment is 'middle of the road' hi end stuff. Musical Fidelity M1DAC, Musical Fidelity M1Vinl, NAD C375BEE, L...
Thiel CS7.2 upgrade kit--any interest in buying? I actually have original 7.2's in exceptional condition but I'd be interested in having the extra parts just in case something were to fail. Like I said the ones I have are fine so I'd be getting this more as an 'insurance policy'. I really have n...
Is Sony XA-5400ES fully 'truly' balanced? No. I haven't had a source with XLR outputs in years. As I recall the last time was with the SCD-1 and I believe that WAS fully balanced. Not 100% on that either.
Sony XA5400ES lack of bass when new? I also had an SCD-1. The 5400 outclasses it in every way except cosmetically. The SCD-1 is one of the finest looking pieces of audio jewelry I've yet to lay eyes on. Is anybody running XLR interconnects on their Sony 5400es? Was wondering if this ...
Oppo BDP-83SE or Sony SCD-XA5400ES? I also have researched the Oppo a bit and it looks like some of the most respected companies in digital hi end (such as Theta and Lexicon) are using the Oppo as the platform for their own $3500+ universal players. Kinda makes the SE look like even...
Oppo BDP-83SE or Sony SCD-XA5400ES? Magnumpi205, You heard the BDP83SE? I didn't think they were out long enough for anybody to A/B compare to anything. I figured the people that did get one were still burning them in. Haven't really seen any reviews from early adopters yet. What wa...
Short List of the Best 20K Speakers Kurt. I had the original Andras for a few years and loved them. You should see the hunk of granite they put on those bastards. Like two inches thick. Only reason I got rid of them was I was selling my house and put them in storage. Winter was appr...
Short List of the Best 20K Speakers Herman. I considered that but between my amp, my speakers, my racks and 2 doorways leading into the room I really don't know where the hell I would put it. The room is smallish as well. It would probably look more like a storage closet then a list...
Shunyata stupid question The Shunyata Hydras require a 20 amp power cord. The end that plugs into the Hydra itself is different then a standard 15 amp connection. However the end that plugs into your wall socket is the standard 3 prong connection that most gear has. It is...
MFSL issues... I have several MFSL releases. My ears must be deceiving me. I thought I was listening to some of the sweetest sounding music I'd ever heard. The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Frank Sinatra all performed in my living room last night. I didn't realize the...
Rega P25 Tonearm Lift Hackmaster is dead on concerning both points. I adjusted the hex screw and it's fixed. As far as the hum between the Grado/Rega combo I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. The only hum you hear in my listening room is coming from the artists...who'd ...
Best sub match for Dynaudio 1.3 SE? Dynaudio makes a Contour Series Sub that would mate perfectly with the 1.3Se. It's pricey, however, at around 3k new and I've yet to see a used one listed since its introduction nearly two years ago.
Krell Serial Numbers, How do they Work? Thanks Guys. Your help was effective and greatly appreciated!! |
