Anyone spend more on their system than their car?
@blindjim thank for resurrecting this old thread! Years ago there was an angry letter to Stereophile saying that folks who spend more on their stereo than their car are nuts. Since then I always introduce myself as a nut with a CD player more expe...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
Elizium by Fields of the Nephilim. As an incurable PF and Steven Wilson fan I mentioned this masterpiece more than once... only to realize that I do not have an original LP. Received it today, after a thorough wash thru VPI16.5 it got played on my...
Whats on your turntable tonight?
It is on my to-buy list but I was wondering if anyone has/plays Yma Sumak LPs? I have some CDs in my collection but the sound is a bit too "processed" compared to my cassette from the Golden Age. Should I go for the original LPs or recent 180g rei...
Established popular artists who released real stinkers
I was really surprised to learn that "Pros and Cons.." could have been The Wall if things went different among The Dudes! Now, reading the latest (in Scientific American) about the concept of multiple Universes I want to get into the one where Pro...
Vinyl recordings - best methods
In my system (see my profile) and to my ears vinyl sounds better than Wadia on SACDs but thanks for the tip! I will try Tascam, $1k . Question: did you manage to make it work with Windows (or Mac)? Or is it still SD cards?
Vinyl recordings - best methods
Quick question: how DSD128 or 2xDSD corresponds to SACDs I am buying all the time?

What about staying in analog domain? Reel to Reel or Nakamichi cassette deck. That is what I do, but usually when in the mood of playing LP I just go for it and fire up my Sondek.
Interesting experience with a wall wart
Switch-mode walwarts should be avoided, just get a transformer-based off eBay. My experience with Linn Akurate SACD player was pretty similar: it sounded nice but its power supply s$&@@-ed (shat?) onto the rest of my rig. Had to get Wadia 781i...
Subwoofer for classical music listener
Thank you, guys, for your insights! I shall invite my local dealer for a listen (the perk of living in Malibu is that folks do not mind the drive!). My sub is tuned up onto the "invisible" level so that my primary listening to Richter and Schubert...
High Quality bi-amp-able full range speakers - choices?
I am not in the same $$$ league but my limited experience with Naim SBLs totally supports @shadorne : going active was a revelation!!! Do not know why it works, but removing passive x-over allowed SBLs to sing!!!
Subwoofer for classical music listener
I just got back from my first day at LA Audio Show. Some impressive, some depressing demos we got here. Could not help comparing what I hear to what I already have at home (see my profile system). Not too many demos have a sub, but the one with tw...
Losing Touch
Forgot to mention that my recent "enlightenment" of the beauties of analog cassettes happened upon my stambling  onto Stereo 2 Go forum.
Losing Touch
@brauser it is a Good one! Every time i admire "Gone to Earth" or "Octoberon" by Barclay James Harvest I wonder if my gentle and law-abiding dad (Communist) smirks at me from Heaven (his rules of conduct were as struct as you would imagine from th...
Has this happened to you?
@sfall +1!!! I feel real strange when buyers of my goodies forget to leave a feedback. I do not buy or sell often, 20years ago I settled onto all-Naim rig and since then spend all my "allowances" on music. These last few years I got myself a new h...
The very best Sibelius recordings in analog
