Accuphase DP-57 vs DP-67
Never heard the DP 57, since it's a new model. But has a owner of a DP 67 I must say that I'm extremely happy. Great sound, great looks and very well built. Great buy. At this price point it's one of the best units I've heard.
Subwoofer in the corner? Forget about it
The boomy bass problem can exist because of: 1) Poor sub design; 2) room related problems (sound field and standing waves); 3) struture problems.1)Most sub use large excursion cones, wich are more dificult to control, facing to speaker cone toward...
My son and the Alban Berg String Quartet
Congratulations to the father. Thanks to you your son as a broad vision of music, with no prejudice about XX century music. As for a recording I recomend for the Quartet and the Lyric Suite a reading under the Alban Berg String Quartett, on the EMI...
Is solid state obsolete?
No way Jose.OFFTOPIC - never seen much tube equipment in a lab.
Accuphase E408, E407 or E530 ?
Hello Gregg, I've heard a system with an Accuphase E407 and the Audio Physics Virgo III. I cant say that this combo is a match made in heaven, there is moore variables in place (like personal preferences or my frieds CEC transport, wich he doesnt ...
Your Favorite Top 10 tuners all time

Accuphase E408, E407 or E530 ?
Congratulations on your new Accuphase, the E530 is a jewel.Beeing a Class A design it will run hotter than a class AB design like the E408.Concerning your new speaker dilemma I will give you my opinion. SF are one of the most coloured speakers, so...
Shunyata Vs. Nordost power cables ?
Audiopur, I'm considering buying a Nordost Brahma or a Shunyata Python Alpha. More input from you is welcome. Just waiting for your next round of Shunyata vs Nordost.
Speaker upgrade
Warrenh we have something in common, I'm a sushi fan too.Sound waves are mechanical waves because they need a medium to propagate their interaction. The main properties of sound fields can be deduced from the basic association that the perfect gas...
Speaker upgrade
Bass, Bass, Bass, Bass and Bass and more Bass.Get three subs (three is better than two in the sub department) and if it's not enough rip the tweeter and put a woofer in it's place.Ok, we want bass, but the bass that exist in the music, not colorat...
Accuphase E408, E407 or E530 ?
Jeremy, of the models you list I've only heard the 407, and IMHO it's a great amp. The new one 408 (it replaced the 407) it's more complex design in terms of topology. The 530 is a class A amp, and uses Mosfet transistors, it should have a diferen...
Audio Physic with Solid State Amp
I live with a pair of Audio Physics Tempo 3i for 3 years. My system is based on a solid state amp (Accuphase), and I have great soudstage an focus in my room. The speakers are very good in the imaging department, with solid state or tubes. The prob...
Acoustic Zen vs. Nordost
I dont buy the revealing statement, that the cable is exposing the system problems. An experiment can be made. Put a record with one or two instruments that you know the timbre very well. First listen with a cable like the AZ and there is a violin...
Checking cable impedance
Owl when we have a DC signal trough the cable, resistance is the big parameter. But audio is an AC signal, so we must take in account the capacitance and indutance of the cable. The capacitance can be measured with a capacimeter. The inductance nee...
