Is a Koetsu Rosewood Sig Overkill for my JMW 9Sig?
Audiofeil has made many negative comments about JMW-9 on many posts, but never gave solid reasons why JMW-9 was not worthy of a world class cartridge or even a Shelter 901. Many fine arms are only 9" long, SME included. In fact, VPI loves the JMW-...
Have anyone replace VPI SSM belt with string?
Thanks for all the input. I am in transistion right now, taking on an assignment oversea that uses a different voltage and I have to build a system from scratch. Did bring my VPI SSM with me, but it's been sitting in the box for the past few month...
Goodmans 212 Triaxiom
My dad also owns a pair of Goodmans Axiom, but they haven't been used for years as I bought them a pair of SF Cremona. Those Axiom edges have rotten over the years from humidity and heat, cones are also not in their top shape. Worth rebuilding? My...
Have anyone replace VPI SSM belt with string?
Thanks for the suggestions. I have cleaned my platter with Windex and my VPI SSM does have those one piece black nitrile belt, but those small belts still make some noises from time to time. Wouldn't boiling the belts make them brittle and crack e...
Dynaudio C1 Bass
I don't think any speaker will take 6+ months to break in. I have owned many Dyn in the past, they do loosen up after about 100+ hours. Yes, they might improve over time but should not take 6+ months.
Have anyone replace VPI SSM belt with string?
guess no one has tried. my VPI SSM is packed away at the moment so I can't try it myself.
How high is your soundstage?
soundstage height should not be 5' above speaker. one of the most disappointing demo I heard was Wilson X-1 that made any singers 8' tall. if the singer appears to be 5' tall from the floor, your stage height should be fine. you can tilt the speak...
How long will CD-R's & DVD-R's last?
I have read in one report that claims DVD+/-R will only last as short as 2~3 years. when I told my friends and we are all engineers and one of them used to work for a lazer diode company that read/write DVD, no one believed me. but it got me worri...
VPI table owners, help please.
Tried 3+ cables between my SSM-Signature w/ Shelter 901 and Sonic Frontiers Phono 1SE. My favorite cable for other source is Audience AU24, but sounded coarse and rough between TT and phono stage. Pure Note Cerulean (generation before current Para...
Is this upgrade worth it?

Upgrading Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE to ???
thanks for the great suggestions.I have not experimented with tube rolling much in buffer stage, has been running 6H23 since day one. For the driver stage, maybe it was the system and room, different type of tubes produce more difference in midran...
Upgrading Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE to ???
I did bring my Line 3SE to a friend's house for A/B in the past, his ARC Ref 2 Mk II outgun my Line 3SE on bass weight and dynamic for sure. I later found out the 6GH8 was worn and replaced them, that restored some of the dynamic but 6H30 pre (ARC...
Upgrading Sonic Frontiers Line 3SE to ???
Forgot to mention I run a 5 meter long XLR interconnect between pre and power, I do know some pre does not like long IC.
What speakers are you guys driving your BAT's with
Audio blow hard, are you saying you are using BAT VK-75 to drive MBL speakers? MBL are very difficult load, takes monster solid state from what I have heard and read. I am thinking of picking up a pair of MBL 116, but thought I would need a solid ...
speaker for TEAC ref 300 min series
I have the 500 series. Among the speakers I have tried, PSB, NHT, Usher, AE, and some others, PSB and Usher stand out the most. Teac does not have enough damping to control bass well, so find something with easy load.PSB combination was really ple...
