Thanks everyone...They're off with C&F...
Oh brother, am I in desperate need of help! 8)
I’ll check them out...Thanks! What about the Revel Performa 206?

Thanks gang!  What about the Dynaudio Focus 260?  Seems to have gotten rave reviews at it's original $5K price point, and now they can be had for under $3K/pr. new, which is over my planned budget.  My only concern is their diminutive size.

Maybe I'll do a little more research into the Zu speakers...I'd absolutely love to have a pair of ATC, PMC or Westlake Audio speakers, but I'd have to sell my car!

Thanks everyone!  I'll be driving the speakers with a Parasound A23 and matching pre-amp that I have sitting new in the box.  Of course, my Altec 604 system didn't need that kind of power, so I've been using a Parasound Z-Amp (40/wpc) and Z-Pre fo...

Thanks everyone...What is a fair price in today's market, for a pair advertised in mint condition?
Transitioning from Tubes back to SS
Thanks again for the responses. I just received the new bass circuit for my XO, so I'm going to experiment further with the Cary. I'm using the stock tubes that came with the unit, so maybe I won't give up on it quite yet.
Transitioning from Tubes back to SS
Thanks everyone....My last set-up was a Parasound A-21 and a Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 (tube hybrid), which I originally had powering Von Schweikert VR-4's. Many moons ago, I sold my Altec Model 19's, and have missed them ever since. I've gone through...
Excessive Midrange Energy?
I've communicated with other folks that aren't experiencing this effect with their systems, although I believe their XO's are slightly different than mine.I like the forward nature of the driver, as it really extracts detail beautifully, and it's ...
Excessive Midrange Energy?
Thanks for the input. I strongly suspected the CD player was not the issue. Both the speakers and Cary SLI-80 are new to the system. I originally powered the speakers with a Parasound Halo SS amplifier and Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 Pre-amp, but the de...
Von Schweikert Audio VR-4
Agreed. I owned the original version for many, many years and thoroughly enjoyed them. The only drawback is they are little light in the midbass, and lack that percusssive power or "punch" when it comes to drums, bass plucks, etc.
Integrated Tube Amplifier for First Timer?
Tvad - Well, CD is my only source, so one input is sufficient. I don't have an interest in using an active pre-amp, so an integrated with a decent pre-amp section would be nice. I haven't heard great things about passive versions in the entry leve...
Integrated Tube Amplifier for First Timer?
Thanks everyone! I guess I should have mentioned that a remote is mandatory!!! I've been walking back and forth, turning the volume up and down, for 20 years now...I definitely must have a remote for volume at least....
Tube Integrated - Narrowed down to 4 - Help pls
Thanks everyone.....Something that's interesting, is some folks get fast/tight bass out of the SLI80, and some get slow/flabby bass.....Funny thing is, the slow bass is coming from speakers you'd think would have fast bass, and vice-versa!!! I wou...
Build my own speakers?
I just completed building my own loudspeakers about 2 months ago...I'm still tweaking them, but even in their current state, I like them better than anything I've heard over the past 10 years...I too tired of seeking out audio nirvana, only to fin...
