Who's using the Jolida JD100? Wow, I'm impressed by the test conditions for your Jolida player. I have been seriously considering buying one, and so I'm interested in what you and any other responders to your thread think. My system is definitely not as resolving as yours, but...
Audio Research service Everyone at ARC, from the phone receptionist to the techies, has been gracious, informative and very helpful. No problems w/their service or social skills whatsoever. I don't know where you heard your report but I haven't heard anything like it be...
Got it pared down now - Revel, Dunlavy or Genesis? I vote with Rzado on the Genesis. I use ARC VT100 MKIII, BAT VK30SE w/my Genesis 500s and the sound is rich, full, detailed on every kind of music I play, from my tuner to my turntable to my SACD player. Genesis and ARC were matched in heaven. Gen...
1st song you remember??? Teen Angel on the housekeeper's radio circa 1958. I was 5. I adored this song and my mom eventually bought me the 45.
Tube amp for Genesis 500 I use an ARC VT100 MKIII w/my Genesis 500's and they sound superb. You only need one, no need to biamp. You can find one used for well within your price range. I think two would be overkill!
SME V/309 Tonearms With LP12 or VPI MKIII There is an LP12 drilled for an SME arm for sale here on the Gon today. I assume the seller used that arm at one point; why not email and ask him/her for impressions?
What are your thoughts on the Dragon tape deck? Hi Peter, I used to own the 582 WAY back in 1980. I loved that deck and it made great sounding tapes that I still play in my car! It kept breaking down, however, and finally bit the dust several years ago. I couldn't throw it out, however. It gave...
Up and Over sampling EXACTLY the same thing The Audio Note DACs don't up- or over-sample, I believe, and they sound great. So you're right, go by your ears.
What's simplest effective record cleaning process Buy a used VPI 16.5 record cleaning machine. A few drops of fluid and one quick vacuum pass on each side and your LP sounds new. Well, unless it is scratched or gouged, of course!
What are your thoughts on the Dragon tape deck? Hi, I have the Nak CR-7A and very recently sold my Dragon. If you still make cassettes, the Dragon is the best I've heard. In the car, you cannot tell the difference between a CD and a Dragon-made cassette. The CR-7A is very close in performance a...
ATC 100A Actives And Tube Preamps - Ideas ? The LS-15 sells for about $1200 used here. I think I sold mine for $1100 plus shipping; that was about a year or so ago. I don't think the shipping would be astronomical to the UK. I remember last year around this time FedEx had an international r...
BAT VK-30SE Owners Power Cable of Choice I use an Ensemble Megaflux power cord on my 30SE and on all my other components too. Great power conditioning products! I also bought an Ensemble Isolink to plug my 30SE into, then the Isolink goes to an Ensemble power strip thing, then the power ...
Recommended Carrier for Speaker Shipments I just used FedEx Ground to have a pair of PSB Image 5T's shipped to me from Canada. One speaker arrived with the magnet sheered off the woofer and banging/knocking around inside the cabinet. It must have been dropped, par for the course with all ...
Vienna Speakers: Compared to other Hi-end spks? I have owned the Beethovens and absolutely loved them. I used Ayre amp and preamp. I agree w/those that said they are on the warm side and sound beautiful w/jazz and acoustic. I heard them w/tubes but the amp I heard them with did not have enough ...
Which components knocked you out on first listen? Also want to add to my list two components I am currently using together--agree w/TOK 20000 about the ARC CA-50:ARC CA-50 integrated paired w/Proac Response 1SC's: I love this sound as much as that of my big "reference" system (Genesis 500's w/ARC... |
