Arcade Fire; what song did they do on SNL
Both are worth getting. Vinyl of Funeral is mediocre pressing quality, but the music is good. So far, I like the music on the new album even better. Vinyl isn't out yet. Cheers,Spencer
Arcade Fire; what song did they do on SNL
I grabbed the CD yesterday @ Circuit City for $7.98.Yes, the first track on SNL was "Intervention". WXPN and World Cafe have been playing another track. After a couple of listens, I am impressed. This is a great band, with the potential to build a...
Bill Evans Vinyl on Riverside
Jaybo makes a fine point.Additionally, the Fantasy 45 rpm re-issues of Bill Evans are disgustingly good. Waltz For Debby is really special. Cheers,Spencer
Audio Horizon Preamp
Kensetsu,I have no doubt that the stuff you are concerned with occurs, but not on this thread. Yes, you're right that if every contributor posted his system w/photos, we'd all be better off. Yes, it's odd that no one has said that they've "been Mr...
I'd love some help/opinions
The Ayre V3 is one of the better sounding solid state amps. IMHO, it will give you more natural sounding midrange and treble vs. the Bryston, and more details than the Classe. Relatively speaking, the Bryston is known mostly for its dynamic drive ...
best classical LP labels
Mercurys are widely cherished. If you change the question to "make", then Speakers Corner reissues have got to be near the top of the list. Rushton is the guy whose answer here should be worth reading...Cheers,Spencer

TNT6 Platter speed
Loki,You will need the KAB more than once. Over time, belt wear, etc. could cause minor variations. It's worth checking once every other month or so. Also, check at both 33 and 45 when you do it. Cheers,Spencer
TNT6 Platter speed
I always run my TNT6 with my Walker Motor Controller. When you buy the Walker, it comes with a KAB strobe included, so you can accurately/easily check the speed. The KAB is a great way to make sure speed is accurate. Yes, I agree that it should be...
Experience with Raul's Essential 3150
See the other thread about this preamp to read my comments on Raul's Philadelphia visit and on hearing the Essential in 3 different high end systems.http://learn.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl? eanlg&1166047312&read&keyw&zz3150 Cheers,...
preamp for berning/merlin/audio aero system
Bobby from Merlin uses Joule Electra in his system, and now there's a new version that he has which is supposed to be even better(LA150 Mark II). Definitely synergy there with great full-bodied portrayal of instruments and very natural tonality. B...
Cartridge/RFI
Guys,I've been dealing w/similar issues for over a year, being located near a large radio tower. Most of what's been said above is generally on track. Sometimes all the little nits add up to a big problem, so attack RFI in every way possible.- As ...
Is Supratek Syrah still the deal of the century?
Matty,My understanding is that Mick's partner, Kevin Covi (who helped design some of the Suprateks)is in the USA. Their website also states that most technicians would be able to do any likely repair work, and that Mick would provide instruction b...
Looking for reviews of Zyx Airy 3 silver vs copper
Doug,That will be me at the airport. Of course, we're having the coldest week of the winter, but we will be sure to keep Raul warm with my MA1 amps and Slipknot's Wolcotts! Cheers,Spencer
Looking for reviews of Zyx Airy 3 silver vs copper
I'm using the silver on a JMW 12.6 and it's very nice together. Haven't heard the copper version except at shows. Mehran @ Sorasound recommended the silver based on my system. Many comments you'll read are about the copper version sounding "better...
