Kronos vs TW Acoustic
@ebm typed almost 2 full lines of text. That means you know its really good stuff! ;-) Cheers,Spencer
Any thoughts on Ridgestreet Audio Poima!!! Cables
Golden Reference is what Bobby@Merlin used, as did I when I owned Merlins. Most cables that avoid being overly etched, detailed & sterile will be fine. The reasoning is that the Esotar D tweeter in the Merlins is a little hot sounding. Tons of...
Questioning the need for a DAC
@williewonka Your findings make perfect sense given the gear you tested, but I am trying to explain something further(i.e. ComputerAudio301 vs. ComputerAudio201which you've already aced!)"DAC's that use power from their own onboard power supply te...
Looking for music streamer/server...Is a Macbook Pro better than a Sony Hap Z....
Agree with Everest for the most part. IMHE, storing library on NAS and then connecting to a streamer/network player connected to DAC is the best option. The other self-contained units with internal SSD are next best approach. Cheers,Spencer
Questioning the need for a DAC
@whitestix You are correct, you didn't really hear the Gungnir since you didn't give it 100 hours to break-in. I was fortunate to have a friend bring his broken-in Gungnir over for demo vs. my Oppo 105D and another friend's Chord Hugo. I bought a ...
Norah Jones
Nice performance by Norah 3 songs on the latest episode of Later With Jools Holland. Worth watching...cheers,Spencer
What tonearm will better mine?
Which of the arms mentioned have on-the-fly or at least easily repeatable VTA? I am surprised to see many tonearms that are raved about don't have easily repeatable VTA and I wonder if their owners don't adjust VTA for each LP or what? I know Pete...
FLAC On A Mac
iTunes sounds lousy, period. A+ sounds relatively lousy running in iTunes integrated mode vs. standalone mode.A+, Amarra & PureMusic sound about the same with some folks feeling more strongly about one or the other, all on Macs.IMHE, getting t...
Input/Output line level transformers for digital glare
Gotcha, thank you Ralph. Cheers,Spencer
Soundlab speakers...how reliable?
If I was fortunate enough to live near Duke, I'd go through him, but I have worked directly with Sound Lab directly and they are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I can't say enough good things about them. Cheers,Spencer
Dipole Asymmetry
@sleepysurf Good suggestion. @cleeds So Janzen closes their cabinets and Sound Lab recommends a "Dead End/Live End approach that absorbs the rear wave. Who recommends your preferred "Let the rear wave bounce approach" besides Bose? Cheers,Spencer
Input/Output line level transformers for digital glare
@almarg Thanks, to clarify, my "However.." was because I was surprised by one small part of Ralph's post...the first sentence. I didn't know that would be the case, realize that it was not intended as a recommendation and I didn't want a "quick re...
FLAC On A Mac
ALAC isn't compatible with every music playback software, and I refuse to let Apple control the agenda in my listening when they pretty much exemplify the big brother character in their famous "1984" ad. Their software also sound lousy and their o...

Input/Output line level transformers for digital glare
I agree with the last part of Ralph's comment that getting better digital gear is much smarter way to go. However, even though I don't doubt the technical discussion re: transformer, IHMO the approach of adding bandaids is a bad idea when it can b...
