Switched From Tubes To SS???Glad You Did??? I tried an Audio Research LS-25. The noise and lack of control in in the bottom 2 octaves was to much for me. Got a used McCormack MLD. Kris at SMC did his Platinum+ upgrade on it. I know this hard to except but even the midrange is better than th...
Best Overall Value in a KT-88 tube Have done business with tctubes my self the past 6 weeks. They did some testing for me plus I bought matched ECC83 and ECC88 tubes for a phono stage and cd player. Just like Adam18 they were the best for customer service and product. Highly recomm...
powering the Dahlquist DQ-10' To get what the DQ-10s are capable of you will need a separate amp and line stage or pre amp. Amps that I used on them are Audio Research D-350 and D110B. I have heard the DQ-10s with Threshold Stasis 2 and Mark Levinson ML-10 with very good resul...

How loud do you like to play your music? I do not have a didital meter but music that has a sustained loud passage I measure 92db. Most of the music I listen is well under that.
How large is your music collection? Been in this hobby about 28 years. Have almost 500 LPs and about half I listen to regularly the other half seldom. About 30 cds listen to about 5 of them regularly. Not large numbers but the ones I listen to I really enjoy.

McCormack Amp Upgrades I have 2 DNA-1 amps mono block. Bought them used but they were not up to the platinum level. They are now with the Plitron transformers. I like Nelson Pass amps and pre amps. Have owned and heard some of his products. The Platinum DNA-1s are the f...
Preamp for McCormack DNA500 The SMC VRE-1 linestage is the first one that came to my mind also. I currently use an Audio Research LS-12 and like it very much with my DNA-1s but plan on buying Steves VRE-1 down the road some day.
Audio Research LS 12 Preamp Characteristics? I have had mine for about 6 years now. Previous pre amp was a Threshold SL-10. Have listened to a number of pre amps over the years and there are very few that are as musical as the LS-12 and fewer yet that are more musical.I use the ARC PH3SE pho...
