Upgrading from Primaluna
2 ft from the side walls sound correct. However, that measurement should be from the tweeter or center of the speaker...not taken from the outside edge of the speaker.  And yes, do add diffusion/absorption on the front wall and look at the ceilin...

What does a subwoofer solve?
Most likely issue is the room/speaker placement. Maybe no need for lots of purpose-made room treatment if you can move a few things around and there are not a lot of hard/shiny surfaces in the room.  Keep in mind that we listen to our systems THR...
Project Tube Box DS2 vs. Hagerman Audio Trumpet MC
@bkeske  Thanks! That's good enough for me. I'm driving distance from Upscale Audio...so will plan on getting it soon.
Project Tube Box DS2 vs. Hagerman Audio Trumpet MC
@bkeske  Great, pease let us know how well it works. I would definitely invest if it improves performance.
Dust cover up or down?
I have a Technics 1200G...I don't notice a difference. I guess it's just really bad gear...lol.
Project Tube Box DS2 vs. Hagerman Audio Trumpet MC
I own a Hagerman Trumpet MC as well. Outstanding gear. For kicks, I tried running my low output (.35v) MC cart at 68db gain. Pretty quiet...no hum or noise. Try that level of gain with any phono stage with a wall wart. I currently like running it ...

Best Rock Drummers
Keith Moon lived such an outrageous life, he would have re-learn how to play the drums before recording the later albums.  As good as Bonham is, he was not as fearless as Moon. It is true that Moon would play over things that most session drummer...
Is a separate phono pre really necessary?
Another vote for the Hagerman Trumpet MC. In the past, I've had noise and hum driving MC carts at 60db...even with an outboard linear power supply. The Hagerman Trumpet MC is quiet. I recently tried an AT33PTGII at 68db gain. Quiet...and very pun...
Best Rock Drummers
Haha best drummer thread...classic! They all start with Neil Peart or John Bonham with a non-rock tip of the hat to Buddy Ruch. There’s also Keith Moon up there as well. Better to ask professional drummers who they admire most and I guarantee Ne...
most beautiful (looking) speakers
To each their own. I used to shake my head at the Tannoys I saw in the lobby of Upscale Audio. That wasn’t that long ago. I own some Turnberrys now. I turned a corner and now think they’re beautiful. I initially thought Oswald Mills speakers were...
Warm, rich, smooth, 3d tube integrated amp, budget $6000
Rich? Forward mids? 3D sounding? You've just described my Evo 400. Others have mentioned better equipment...I would love a Luxman! But if that's what you want, you could do worse than Primaluna. Despite what you may have heard, the Evo line is...
