Digital Audio and Yaqin SD-CD3 Tube Buffer? Thanks for the feedback. I considered getting an external tube DAC but I already have a dedicated audio sound card installed in the PC so wondered whether another DAC would be redundant(?).
Rotel RDD-1580 DAC? Really - no-one has listened to the Rotel?! Any other sub $1K DAC reccos?
Rotel RDD-1580 DAC? Thanks Loftarasa, I will definitely check those out.
5.1 A/B switch - XLR - where? Are RCA/Unbalanced switches any more available/affordable?
5.1 A/B switch - XLR - where? Thanks Tls49 - it's actually cheaper than the $5k I've seen quoted for the now defunct EMM Switchman's - but still more than I wanted to pay...
5.1 A/B switch - XLR - where? Wow, so much more complicated than I anticipated ...Thanks for the suggestions folks!
Best Amp for Parasound JC2 Agree with Audiofeil, probably wise to choose the amp once speaker decisions have been made.
Tube pre-amp with parasound jc-1's Asthetix Calypso is the tube preamp I would evaluate as an alternative to the JC-2. Has HT by-pass, balanced in & outputs, & impedance is a match with JC-1s.
Best Amp for Parasound JC2 Check the Parasound site for Curl's involvement in design if that's impt. to you: JC-1, 2 & 3. A-21, 23, 51 & 52.

Pre-amp with balanced suggestions? Check out the Parasound Halo JC-2
Tube Monoblocks w/- balanced inputs? Ok, apparently a little higher than quoted above if necessary for a good match ...
Tube Monoblocks w/- balanced inputs? Thanks for your input folks - my sense is that, with Maggies, more power is always preferable. He's confortable buying used & I think was hoping to get a monoblock pair for between $2.5 - $4.5K used.
Magnepan 3.7's versus 20.1's? There's no sign that the 20.1 is going to be updated in the near future. There are rumors about an anniversary edition Tympani but that's another story ...
Biamping: Emotiva, W4S, Parasound or ..? Because it's widely acknowledged that bi-amping MG 20.1s vastly improves their sound. Even the guy who designed them bi-amped his own pair. |
