Subwoofers
Check out the reviews (e.g. Audioholics) of the Arendal 1723, they have both ported and sealed versions. I have the smaller 1961 sealed version in my 2.1 bedroom system.  It integrates easily with my Magnepans but still has plenty of oomph for mo...
Decisions, decisions, decisions
I presume you’re talking about the Nelson Pass designed Adcom 545 II. It’s funny- I recently got the Magnepan LRS+ for a bedroom 2,1 system and assumed I’d have to get a new amp. Much to my surprise, my old Adcom 545II drives the Maggies so well...
Subwoofer Advice
Were the Spires in a different position or room? (As an experiment, you could reverse the speaker cable on one of the speakers and see how it sounds.)
Subwoofer Advice
Is there any possibility that your speakers are wired out of phase? It seems so odd that you didn’t have this issue with the Spires.
Speaker Cables For $300
DH Labs Silver Sonic- Q10. It’s silver clad over copper which to my ears provides a cooler (but not bright) sound with great extension on both ends.
Magnepan 3.7i amp pairing
With my LRS+ in my bedroom home theater system, I notice that even during pure dialogue scenes  (and using a 35 hz crossover) the sound changes slightly when I turn on the sub. I imagine some may prefer this but I can’t help but feel that the pur...
Subwoofer for music only ?
My bedroom is of similar dimensions and is where I have my 2.1 system mainly used for streaming Netflix and the like. I use an Arendal sub 1961s with my Magnepan LRS+.  The aesthetics and performance based on reviews is why I chose it.  Check out...
Looking to upgrade Adcom GFA555: Parasound?
I recently received the Magnepan LRS+ for my bedroom/home theater 2.1 system. I assumed I would have to get a new amp for this system but discovered that my old Adcom 545 II drove the LRS+ so well that I don’t know what else I would want in an am...
Kids, Dogs, and Speakers
@ghdprentice   Our big standard poodle did bump into the 1.7i and nothing happened.  And my wife did graze the LRS+ in our bedroom on her way to the bathroom in the middle of the night and except for being moved a bit, nothing happened. But our ...

Have you heard Magnepans?  You can run into them and they will not fall over.
Cable upgrades
To achieve what is being sought, this is what did the trick for me: Speaker Cables- DH Labs Q10 (silver clad over copper); IC- Kimber Silver Streak
Maggies and subwoofer integration
I have the 1.7i in my main system but use a sub in my 2.1 bedroom system (mainly used for home theater) with the LRS+. I would suggest trying a sub which allows you to pick a slope (I use 24 db/octave) and has variable phase (I found 90 degrees w...
Little help with REL subwoofers, please?
I have the LRS+ in my bedroom system (mainly used for home theater). A sub was obviously needed for movie sound effects.  I got an Arendal 1961 s based on its reviews and feature set, and it not being too big or heavy with a 12.3 inch driver. Bo...
Musical subwoofer under $2000
Highly recommend the Arendal sub. I use the smaller 1961 1s in my bedroom setup (mostly used for home theater) and found the controls (e.g. variable phase, selection of roll off slopes) very useful and it was surprisingly easy to integrate with t...
Speaker Cable Recommendation
DH Labs Q10 (silver clad over copper) is what has worked best for me, with both Harbeths and Maggies.
