Why is the Shelter 501 mono so expensive?
Davt,I owned the Shelter II mono for a couple of months. It exhibited a low hum with the 3 high quality phono stages I own. Finally discovered it was a single coil design [not in specifications or description anywhere]. Install instructions were m...
MONO cartridges
Thanks for your response Hevac.I will try mine at 940 ohms which is the highest loading I have for the pre without ordering new resistor plugs.Did you try yours at a higher loading before making final load decision? They state the higher the loadi...
MONO cartridges
I have a question as to the best loading for the Helikon. It's specs say 100ohms to 47k ohms. My Einstein has loading resisters of 40,85,100,150,300, and 940 ohms.Is this cartridge load sensitive in anyone's experience? What loading are the other o...
MONO cartridges
I recently purchased a Lyra Helikon mono to play the many mono records in my lp collection. First record after break in was excellent condition original Blue Note records "Art Blakley and the Jazz Messengers Vol. 2". Stunning presentation and deta...
How do you know when a cartridge has broken in?
Then how do the cartridge break in tracks of the Cardas Sweep record speed up the break in process. I do not believe the suspension break in is accelerated. But then, I have not really been clear what these tracks do and how they work.
Raven One
My Raven One TT is everything the StereoMojo review describes and everything I could wish for in a TT. I needed a TT which was compact enough to fit on my Hutter Racktime rack top shelf, light enough to move without backstrain, able to use 2 arms ...
Any Comparisons between VTL 7.5 & ARC Ref 3
Dgad,Are you using the stock VTL power cord or an aftermarket PC?My 7.5 vs 1 sounds abit more open when plugged into the wall rather than my AdeptResponse PC. I have good clean power but need to protect against lightning surges, so play it both wa...
VTL 7.5 PAD jumpers to reduce input volume by 12db
I experienced the same problem when I made the upgrade from Pass Labs monoblocks to Sim W-6 mono's. VTL sent me some 12AU7's to replace the original 12AX7's. This dropped the gain a lot and improved the sound quality overall significantly. The gai...
Raven One
Which is better choice of tonearms for the Raven one. The Schroeder model 2 or the Triplanar Vll? Have Allaerts MC1B or Universe with copper coils and SB available as cartridges.Do the Millemium mat and clamp come standard? Is an upgrade to better...

Exlibris, were you ever able to demo the Accustic Arts DAC with your 31.5 as you posted you were going to do in Oct?. If not, are you planning to add the DAC to your system sometime in the future. I listen to mostly vinly myself, but still want th...
Reference DACS: An overall perspective
Exlibris, do you have any results from you comparison of the Accustic Arts Dac 1 Mark IV with your ML31.5 vs their new Drive 1 Mark 2 transport?
ASR Basis Exclusive or Einstein The TT's Choice
All of Einstein's components contain tubes. Therefore, when they built the phono stage, a requirement was for it to have tube like sound to match the other components. The first time you hear it, you will swear it has a tube character to it's soun...
ASR Basis Exclusive or Einstein The TT's Choice
I made some earlier posts asking for impressions of the Einstein, because nobody ever heard of it, and I kept reading all these great posts from others about how good all the other expensive phono pre's were.I talked personally with some of the ow...
