Runco Plasmas - How are they different?
The only question I have is the mention above of Runco adding their own glass. What does that mean? The glass and pixel structure are the same thing- pixels are embedded in the glass. There are differences in pixel structure. color filter layer pl...
HIGH DEF DVD...WHATS THE LATEST NEWS?
The Wall Street Journal agrees with you. They are stating that because blu-ray has a larger storage capacity just as VHS had more tape over Betamax that Blu_ray will "win the .war"I disagree with that reasoning for sure. But I just dont see many f...
Blu Ray over/under $
Mr F-Lamb- I am wondering if you have ever seen an HD-DVD/Blu Ray DVD next to a standard DVD on decent displays?I know you wont believe me, but there isnt a very big difference. I can only assure you that I can see some difference, but not that mu...
Amp/Pre-amp recommeded for Soliloquy 6.3
Sugden Masterclass integrated. I use a Sugden a21ap with my Soliloquy 5.3i and its a wonderful combination.
Blu Ray over/under $
The writing is far from being on the wall for all of the reasons I have enumerated, but time will tell. I only hope that ONE of the two formats makes it as far as DVD titles. The DVD rental market is very important in this. If BlockBuster and Netf...
LCD or DLP?
1. SED- Possible technology of the future. I was at CES and didnt get a chance to stop by the SED displays but heard they are pretty awesome. Not yet available, and probably wont impact the market at reasonable pricing for larger displays for at l...
LCD or DLP?
SXRD is a LCos dispay. SED is not yet commercially available. And the first ones may not be over 36 inches, although promises of prototypes by years end at 55inch are flying around.
What A/V receiver to buy?
HD-DVD/Blu-Ray is using a new audio codec, either DTS-HD or Dolby-HD; be sure you undersatnd that NO receiver can decode the new codec at this time, and ask if your new receiver will be able to in the future ( firmware upgrade). At CES last week, ...
LCD or DLP?
The Texas Instruments presentation on the single and triple color wheel appraoch was interesting at CES--BUT-- although improved in many areas- the DLPs do not measure up. 3 LCD technology is looking good. Plasma continues to progress, but the rea...
Blu Ray over/under $
I agree that Play Station three rocks- I saw it myself. It gives a superior gaming experience than xbox 360 IMO as a truely disinterested third party. PS3 is a better product and obviously is a key Sony/Blu Ray advantage.Still, I think the HD-DVD/...
"Professional" or "Commerical" Display Monitors
Yes. A local transport. The fail ret is very small though, and the savings in money for me was 2000 dollars, but the stuff was more expensive back then.
Blu Ray over/under $
Hi Ears. Certainly not end of story! I was at CES and saw all of the demos. What you are saying is NOT the true picture of reality. Only a small piece. Also, the larger consortium of players might easily create problems and already has! HP forced bl...
Any experience with one box "multi channel" spkrs?
Howdy. I heard the Yamaha 800 at CES and they also have the 1000, which wasnt being demoed as far as I could see. I also auditioned the Polk. Moreover, totem has a three speaker flat system for plasma/lcd HT that I demoed as well. Just on the Yama...
Blu Ray over/under $
I dont mind a litle friendly banter over the whole Bluray/HD-DVD thingee- so I'll play devils advocate.1. People will want to buy DVDs of the movies they want to see. If the Blockbuster hits ( if there are any) in 2006 come from HD-DVD aligned stu...
Blu Ray over/under $
BTW- CNET is not a good source of info. I watached their live broadcasts from CES and the reporters really dont have a handle on consumer electronics. From your involvment at avsforum.com, you should know this. The Toshiba players I saw at CES wer...
