Center channel recommendatons for Dahlquist DQ-20
Mike- Best center channel for watching DVDs is none (IMHO). Set receiver or processor to phantom center channel; you won't miss anything. The phantom center channel will work well too for off axis viewers if your Dahlquist's image fairly well.
Transport for Tri-Vista 21 DAC
Thanks for the input guys. Saw a Theta Jade on the site a few days ago but havn't followed-up. The holidays are slowing me down. Also been thinking about the fact that the DAC 21 can handle higher input data rates (e.g. 96K). Maybe a DVD transport...
Please help- Arcam AVR-300 or B&K AVR507
John- I'm assuming that Sony will give Denon permission to enable the link some time soon. Seems like a nice two-box (DVD9000/DVD3910 into AVR5603A) one-wire solution.Russ
Please help- Arcam AVR-300 or B&K AVR507
Not to muddy the waters, but I don't see how any manufacturer can compete with Denon. The AVR3805 is an absolute steal for the money (list $1200, street price less). Denon has a reputation for good two-channel sound (important to most on this site...
Samsung HL-P5063W
Yes; $2,799 at PC Richards here on Long Island. You should be able to get that price at any large retailer. Just walk out if you don't. Don't think they'll let you leave.Have the set two weeks now. Picture is incredible in HDTV; STV terrific too w...
Samsung HL-P5063W
Finally got off the pot (the sitting kind, not the smoking kind) and purchased the Samsung. $2,799 at PC Richards, a major Long Island appliance and electronics chain. I am very happy so far.Standard TV looks much better than I expected (more depe...
Redbook+SACD Player to Replace Denon 5900?
Looks like a few people in this thread are forgetting to finish with IMHO (IMHO).
Center channel question ?
Inscrutable- I have an all NHT system (Super Twos all the way around). Put the Super One center channel away two+ years ago after exhaustive with and without (center channel) comparative listening. Can't imagine anything other than your 3.3s doing...
Point to point wiring.
Audioengr- While the dielectric absorbtion of PCBs may be higher than that of "good cabling", the signal path on a well designed circuit card assembly (typically) would be much shorter. Does on cancel the other? Like most things in our hobby, impl...
Which is Better? Modded Denon 5900 or Teac DV-50
Fgm4275 / Theo- There are already several transport / players on the market that provide a digital output for DVD-A and SACD. The new Sony SCD-XA9000ES (SACD only), the later Pioneer universal players, etc.. The digital outputs, in all cases, are ...
Point to point wiring.
Miler- In my opinion, PCB mounted components, be they thru-hole or SMT, ensure that all units are manufactured identically, whereas point-point wiring varies from assembler to assembler, or even with the same assembler during the course of the wor...
New or mind Tuner DXing and musical
Rmihai- The website mentioned by Albert reviews mostly classic tuners, but on occasion reviews something more recent. In that vein, they rated the Meridian 504 very high on their list, well ahead of many of the very excellent classic tuners. I've ...
Von Schweikert VR-4,Jr.
As I posted several days ago, I thought the VAC / VR-4Jrs were the best sound at the show.Russ
Anyone visit the VAC display at the Home Th. Show
Maniac- I thought the best sound at the show was VAC electronics driving a pair of Albert's VR-4Jrs. Didn't notice the model number of the VAC, as I was more interested in the speakers. Great sound though.RussPS- The McIntosh / Martin Logan's were...
Legacy Audio
At a lower price point (?), has anybody auditioned the new Victoria three-ways? They look like a substantial improvement over the much older Studio two-ways (both are stand-mounts).
