Upgraded my cables and they transformed my system!!!
I’m definitely not an expert but most audiophiles may agree, the quality of your cables should match your system. In chocaholic’s case, the Rocket 88 speaker cables paired with the Revels and lower cost interconnects may match his system and sound...
Tubed preamps and Power amps- How old is too old???
I agree. You really need to be asking this question on the Conrad Johnson Owners group. There, you will find a lot of very knowledgeable audiophiles who have experience with CJ equipment. The LS17 is a classic. At one time, it was highly regarded ...
Please DM me to explain removing my posts
I had a similar experience. Another member made a very condescending remark on a post. Appointed himself the English teacher for the day. He is a longstanding member and probably didn’t like the fact that I called him out. I’m sure he prompted the...
If Conrad Johnson still made a DAC it would sound like??
Sorry, I thought you had CJ equipment. Stick with this group and audition your top 2 or 3 options. Best of luck.
If Conrad Johnson still made a DAC it would sound like??
Switch over to the Conrad Johnson Owners Group. You may find more specific information regarding the type of DAC you are looking for that will pair well with CJ. I’ve had a Lampizator Amber 3 for a few years. There are a few users on CJOG that hav...
DAC RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE
@lordrootman, you hit the nail on the head. Don’t hurt his feelings or he will report you to admin and have the post censored/deleted.
DAC RECOMMENDATIONS PLEASE
If you are interested in a tube DAC, Lampizator is worth consideration. The basic unit, new Amber 4 is built like a tank. I’ve enjoyed my Amber 3 for a few years. I have it paired with a Lumin U2 mini and Conrad Johnson preamp and amp.
Relationship between Ethernet Switch and SQ
Cleeds is correct, bits are bits if you have a decent switch. IMO, even a $600 reconfigured Netgear or Cisco “audio grade” switch is a waste of money - no meaningful value added. I’ve just listened to different switches and spoke with too many net...
Eversolo a6 and Lampizator
I own the Lampi Amber 3. It’s been a strong performer without encountering any problems as previously mentioned. Obviously, the Amber 3 now the 4 is Lamp’s base model. Lampizator highly recommends the use of the USB interconnect for a streamer. I’...
Should I update my manufactures power cords?
jafant, admin deleted my post. I assume soix read the post and you know the rest of the story. Admin may delete my post but I'm not going to tolerate condescending comments from individuals on this forum. Interesting form of censorship... I'm tire...
Have we lost civility and respect on Audio forums?
This is an interesting read. In a way, it parallels the society we live in. People hiding behind screens, disagreements quickly becoming hostile or just feeling you have a sense of superiority or entitlement because you have been a member of a for...
I am looking to upgrade - looking for advice
As previously mentioned, consider purchasing used equipment in exceptional condition. You can find high quality audio components on this site and US Audiomart. This approach may afford you the opportunity to upgrade your system beyond what you ori...
Goodbye Everyone
Wish you nothing but the best moving forward. Like reading a book, this is just one chapter ending and another will begin. Unfortunately, you are correct, I certainly wasn’t meant with kindness when I joined this group not long ago. I responded on...
10 gauge power cord. Too much power for tube amp?
Moonwatcher, unfortunately, it isn’t safe to assume the home has 12 gauge romex. If the panel has 20 amp breakers, then the wire is probably 12 gauge. If the breakers are 15 amp, the wire is probably 14 gauge. This can vary by local codes and buil...
10 gauge power cord. Too much power for tube amp?
Just for clarification, the larger the gauge number or awg, the smaller the wire is, not bigger. For example, 10 awg is a larger diameter than 12. As mentioned previously, when you check the outlet’s wiring, make sure the ground wire is firmly con...
