ProAc comparison
Enjoyed reading everyone's journey with ProAc.  I'll share the last part of my journey.  I had tried the ProAc C-6, but it didn't meet my expectations for a ProAc.  I then skeptically tried the K-6 thinking there wouldn't be a noticalbe difference...
Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS) Platforms
Hi there.  I have an HRS double-wide and found no discernable difference between the S1 and the R3x.  Both are extreemley well made.  The isolation may have more do do wiht the HRS feet, whihc I think are the same on both models. As for the HRS SXR...
Aesthetix vs ARC
I have the ARC Ref 10 preamp and I haven't found another pre that bests it.  It's limitless.
The awful truth about CDs, do they have the same shelve life as LP's ?
It's quite possible Paul does not.  Sorry Paul.  If there are problems with polycarbonate plastics after 10 years then I suggest we should all think twice about getting in an airplane and driving our cars. I have see discs that are not properly st...
What CD player/transport has the most stable mechanism?
Agree the Esoteric is unbeatable.  I have the K-01x and it is the 6th in a long line of hi-end CD and CD/SACD players I've owned and is head and shoulders above the rest - not only for its panzer-solid transport, but it has an incredible DAC that ...
Have you ever tried a pair of speakers and said this Is the last thing I will ever need.

Tube vs Solid State
Hi laltik.  If you enjoy the sound that top-shelf modern tube gear can provide (an ideal and real combination of ambience and transient speed), are leaning toward monos (good for you!), want an amp that can drive any load and in the process delive...

Pre-amp upgrade time?
Budget permitting, the ARC Ref 10 is as good as current technology can get.  I have one and have not found better.
WORST Experience Ever in Dealing With Woodbridge Stereo NJ
Thanks for this.  Glad we have Audiogon and members like you keeping us in the know.  Sure there are other customers who had better experiences with Woodbridge, but it only takes one bad one like this to show the store's/Tom's real commitment to c...
Anticables
I went on the site of Anticables.  Looks less impressive than Radio Shack.  $600 for a pair?  Really?  Thanks for letting us know.  I'll share this with our local audio club.
Best female vocal recording on CD?
The female lead on Blue Tofu (Andrea Mathews).  It never fails; when I play a BT disc for friends/audiophiles who have never heard her - they either get mezmorized by her voice or they simply cream.  Both their CD's are audiophile grade, which mak...
To Pre or not to Pre? Here is my take
This is one of those discussions where there is no right general answer only individual taste.  I'll briefly share my experience.  A friend of mine has an MSB Analog DAC with the preamp/volume module.  Awesome DAC by the way.  I played it by-passi...
Why does it take so many hours to brea in arc preamps and amps?
It's the massive teflon capacitors that need the break-in time.  I have a ARC Ref 10 preamp and I know it can be an agonizing process to wait for the full blume and potential, but as others have said its well worth the wait.  I can honestly say, h...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable?
Interesting discussion.  I have heard others dispute the differences between high and mid level cables, but never $5k vs $10 wire.  There are only three variables here: ears, equipment and cables.  I agree with some of the earlier comments in this...
