CD Players $1,000 - $1,500 US - any info on Talk? You might be able to get a used Sony SCD XA777ES for around $1,500 -- $1,600. That's a great CD/SACD player.
Speakers that sing Revel F-50, Sonus Faber Cremona, Wilson Sofia....
Tubes for B&W 803 good? Do you want to have separate pre/pro's for two channel [Music] and multi-channel [Home Theatre] listening?
Tubes for B&W 803 good? If you're talking about the Nautilus 803's, make sure you get an amp with enough power to drive them. I think Plinius and Classe'amps work well with B & W because they are warm enough to tame the high end, which can be fatiguing with B & W...
The absolute best and worst-sounding CD you own ? Here are some more great recordings --Lyle Lovette -- Joshua Judges Ruth Alison Kraus and Union Station -- LiveBela Fleck -- Live ArtThe Cure -- Galore
Power conditioner question Labtec -- I wrote, "though it seems as quiet in the afternoon, there has to be less white noise at night." So, I agree with you.
The absolute best and worst-sounding CD you own ? Any CD made by Mobile Fidelity will sound significantly better. Rickie Lee Jones' CD's are also well engineered. The boxed set of Ray Charles Atlantic recordings and the Chess Boxed set of Muddy Waters are also extremely well done.
Power conditioner question Music sounds better at night because there are fewer demands on the AC so your AC is cleaner, though it seems as quiet in the afternoon, there has to be less white noise at night, and becauseat a certain point in the evening, you become more relax...
Paradigm or Monitor Audio's?? Any thoughts? Both Paradigm and Monitor Audio are nice speakers and give you a lot of bang for the buck. Paradigms can be a little harder to drivewhile Monitors are generally really efficient speakers.
If it were you, which non-Sony SACD? If a used Sony SCD1 is at the top of your expense tolerance, considera used Sony SCD XA77ES. I would also look at the Shanling T-200. Bothof those are fine players and can be modified later when you get more $$ and the urge to upgrade.
anyone hear the levinson 436's or 432 yet My Levinson 46's have never really heated up on me. If heat is an issue, you'll find that many amplifiers in their category run much hotter than they.
anyone hear the levinson 436's or 432 yet I love my Levinson 436's. |
