My Venture into Hifi with Vandersteen Model 1 You can add a Vandersteen sub later. With a Vandersteen sub you will think your little Mac monos are several times more powerful. It really improves the sound in ways you would never imagine.
My Venture into Hifi with Vandersteen Model 1 Zanon, I have a very big room also and I have played 90db speakers with 14 watts to louder than comfortable levels. It depends on the amp.
My Venture into Hifi with Vandersteen Model 1 Pubul57, Vandersteen speakers with large impedance swings and low impedance of 2 ohms? That couldn't be any farther from the truth. In fact, Vandersteen speakers are very easy to drive and extremely tube friendly. The impedance is 6.8 ohms +/- 2oh...
best vintage 70s, 80s amp? C1ferrari, The beverage amp was never sold separately. However, Roger Modjeski designed an OTL amplifier that became Counterpoint's first amp called the SA-4. It is probably the same design used in the big Beverage speakers, but Modjeski won't adm...
Audio Research SP10 vs ? The dual volume controls are not a pain at all. Balance is easily accomplished because Mike uses detented attenuators, unlike Audible Illusions' preamps from a few years back without detents. I remember trying an Audible Illusions preamp once. I w...

Feedback on following Set up If you are going to spend the money for Classe, you might as well listen to tubes. If you must have solid state a complete Quad system will get you more for your money.
ARC LS25 mkII adjustment I think John probably knows better than to change those adjustments. If it was my preamp and I suspected adjustments have been changed I would ship it to Audio Research, so I know it is working properly. I think a lot of audiophiles try equipment ...
ARC LS25 mkII adjustment Jazzgene, Did you change the adjustment?
ARC LS25 mkII adjustment Actually preamp tubes, in many cases, should be adjusted. However, biasing preamp tubes is not a simple task and it requires changing resisters. I believe the differences we hear when rolling tubes can often be how the tube is affected by the curr...
down firing or front firing sub? Down firing is better for music because it blends more seamlessly with the main speakers. Forward firing is better for HT.
speakers for a smaller listening room Bob_reynolds, You are playing with words and it all means the same thing. A speaker with 3 woofers is not the same as a speaker with only 1 woofer. There is a great deal of difference regarding the air those two speakers would move or try to move ...
ARC VS60 bias Your AC voltage is higher than the voltage at the Audio Research facility. Lower the bias to 60ma as recommended. This is not something you do by ear. |
