What is the minimum distant for Zu?
Onhwy61, You are right about the listening position being fixed. I have experienced this in the last three homes I have lived in with a variety of speakers from Martin Logan full range electrstatics, Magnepan, Vandersteen and Dunlavy to smaller sp...
What is the minimum distant for Zu?
Morganc, All speakers need the same attention as your Zu speakers, but once you learn your room you will find other speakers will sound their best in the same place as the Zu.
Clarify differences between Stanton 980/ 981 .
According to my book there is a differnce in output. LZ shows a low output of .3 HZ shows output of 3.5Is this correct? My Collector's Series 100 output is 3.2
Room acoustics
In your post "What To Do Next...?" from last March you stated you have Vandersteen 2Ce speakers in a 12"x12" room. Are the Thiels working better for you?
are my amps clipping?
What you really need is a more efficient speaker with higher sensitivity. Something like Klipsch speakers with close to 100db sensitivity. Then you will have plenty of power. You will give up before the amps do.
Monster X-Terminator Source?
It will be more secure, but they sound bad.
Granit amp stands are they killing my sound?
I would try wood by itself as an experiment to see if you prefer the sound. No spikes, just wood. Spikes under any equipment can cause the sound to become lean.

All rooms are different. It is my experience that all speakers end up sounding the best in the same location in a given room. If you used speakers in this room before and found the optimum location that is where these speakers should be. If not, i...
Room acoustics
You are the guy with the Vandersteens in a 12'x12' room. The answer to your question is no. If you can invent room treatment that creates distance between the wall and speakers you will be rich.
are my amps clipping?
I used to have the same problem with country music, so I stopped listening to it.
El34 vs. KT88
"I have only heard the EL34's in action so far.""I know for a fact that there are many good tube amps out there that work great with the 2C's."Oh really?
Active vs. regular speaker cable non active
If your dealer is recommending the Synergistic Galileo Basik Activ SE he should let you try it long enough to make a decission. I think the recommended break-in period would be a reasonable trial period. Possibly 200-500 hours?
Ads with no picture WTF??
If I am comfortable with the seller and I know the product I couldn't care less whether or not there is a picture. Most of the pictures don't reveal the flaws anyway and sellers can con you if that's what they want to do. I received two items in t...
El34 vs. KT88
Robertsong, If you plan on using the older 2Cs stick with ARC. That is all Richard Vandersteen used at the shows back then and Audioquest used Vandersteen speakers to evaluate their cables. You can't go wrong.
