Audio room floor question
Sometimes I wonder if aging audiophiles all have high frequency hearing loss. Exposed concrete and wood floors all sound bright to me and these hard surfaces cause added reflections. The solution is to spend a fortune on room treatment or you can ...
anyone heard digital transport?
To be honest, once in a while I learn new words on this forum. However, after a little research I have discovered "latestly" is not a word.
Subwoofer Crossover Question
REL subwoofers are easy to set up and blend with your system. Run your main speakers full range and blend the RELs into your speakers. I would not be concerned much with specs because the room and overall system plays a big part in the balance. Th...
What to replace CAL ALPHA dac
Newbee, I found the Proceed PDT/PDP very sensitive to the digital cable. This combination was very neutral, but some body could be added with the right cable. I used the Proceed separates with ESP Concert Grand speakers, Quicksilver Silver monos a...
What to replace CAL ALPHA dac
Newbee, Correction on my previous post. The Alpha was warm sounding. The Delta was a really good transport. In my opinion everything from CAL back then sounded good. The only product I had reservations about was the Tercet. It was bright compared ...
What to replace CAL ALPHA dac
"The type of tubes you use in this unit can produce a wide range of tonal response."The bias is set for the original tube and is not user adjustable. The original tube will usually give the most neutral sound. If my memory serves me well the Delta...

Brf, Speak for yourself :) Good advice on buying new tubes and compare. This is my phylosophy except I leave the new tubes in and keep the old tubes as spares.

Paulsax, Too bad high end audio manufacturers don't know how to market their products. They continue to advertise in the same old magazines with declining subscriptions. Not only are the subscriptions declining, but they have also disappeared from...
OK to replace one power tube for amp?
Most manufacturers estimate tube life in their equipment.
OK to replace one power tube for amp?
With only two output tubes I would replace both. In fact if the tubes have a lot of hours I would replace tubes in both amps if you want the best sound. Tubes wear slowly and we adjust to the sound the same way we adjust to our car when the shocks...
Am I totally nuts or just a bit off?
Many people prefer mono because the sound is more natural without the phase problems you get with stereo.

Richard Cranium (Michael Fremer) continues with the brainwashing that only over priced audiophile approved speakers are to be considered. When in reality audiophiles are being hosed by 90% of the manufacturers of those speakers. These manufacturer...

Tabl10s, I did not direct my response at you. Your post regarding the passing of Dr. Bose is appreciated.
