How did a bands' name originate?
Is it true The Beatles name was a take on The Crickets?

Keith should stay home, I'm over him and his "...".  But I agree, Hillman was one of the stars at the Town Hall show.

Yes, I bought the recording with the outtakes, etc.  David Fricke wrote the liner notes. I once lived in the same building (West End and 103rd, NYC) as he does, we would often talk over laundry in the basement.  Not sure why I wrote that last part.
So disappointed in today's Americana
I love that Brandi Carlile record. Just shows. Maybe we listen for different things/reasons, who knows. But I love that one. And most of the artists listed by bdp24 (not so much a fan of Lauderdale).  The rest do it for me.

Greatest debut album

Why Does All Music Sound the Same; An Explanation
I don't agree with the statement in this post; I suggest a listen to a recent CD, Dave Alvin And Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Downey To Lubbock.  Nothing about it, songs, singing, playing, depth, clarity, cleanliness, makes it sound anything less than spe...
MFSL CDs: Dumb Questions
A little off topic, Mandy Barnett covers Strange Conversation on her new disc (its also the title of the disc).  Saw her a week or so back, wonderful.

Tony Joe White RIP

The New American Songbook
I thought the list was okay, I like many of the songs there.   Many I never heard too.
